We have another big name being attached to Man of Steel, Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman installment out of Warner Bros. Pictures. With Kevin Costner already set to become his adoptive father, Pa Kent, Variety has confirmed that Russell Crowe is also jumping aboard the fast-tracking production to become the new Jor-El, previously played by Marlon Brando in the previous films.

Both Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. executives have said this is not a reboot or a remake of Donner's films (or an origin tale) so how the re-casting of Jor-El and General Zod (Michael Shannon) plays into the story is something to be revealed later when more plot details come to the surface.

Crowe joins the previously confirmed stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon and Antje Traue. With production scheduled to begin sometime next month, Snyder is at the helm based on a screenplay by David Goyer and Jonathan Nolan. Christopher Nolan is overseeing as a producer alongside Charles Roven, Emma Thomas and Deborah Snyder.

Man of Steel flies into theaters December 2012.

It tends to put you immediately at a disadvantage and IMO is a sign of true weakness.
This is true both in politics and on the internet."
