I found the notions presented in this article rather silly, and just wishful thinking on the part of the Left.
And when they're up against ACORN, SEIU, teachers' unions, and the rest of the Democrat machine, realistically these guys and their alleged "libertarian-Left alliance" are just going to get steamrolled.
Likewise on the Right. I don't see any splinter groups gaining traction when the urgent imperative is to beat Obama. I see Romney as potentially the Bill Clinton of the Right, who will pragmatically move to the center and not be any more partisan than he has to in order to win the base and get the nomination, before moving to the center to win independents, and the election. Romney is my guy.
My second choice is Gingrich, who understands the political system, has a clear and long-term vision for rebuilding our economy and re-tooling the nation for the 21st century. I see Gingrich as dismissively underestimated even by Fox News, and having the potential to be the front-runner, and one who will not leave the nation mired in partisan games, but --as he did with Clinton-- get things done and move the nation forward.
I like Herman ("Herb") Cain and I was dismissive of him because of his lack of political experience. But he certainly has plenty of executive experience and proven leadership ability. But in an election where the economy is the high-priority issue, Cain has a record of taking multiple companies that were in bankruptcy, and turning them back into very successful companies. As does Romney.
Bachmann as well is a former tax attorney and successful business owner, as well as her proven leadership in the House and the Tea Party. A few gaffs, yes, overplayed by a media that hates her (despite Obama and most of his administration making equal or worse gaffs, including Anita Dunn and Ron Bloom, to name two, openly praising chairman Mao).
I don't see Perry, Paul, Johnson or Huntsman as shills or incompetent either. I like Perry the least, but none of these guys make me think the only alternative is revolution.
