I like Gary Frank but, I really didn't like his and Johns run on Action comics. Frank's Superman, IMO, looked far less like he grew up in Kansas and more like he grew up on the Cahulawassee River.

C'mon. Pop masquerading as country aside, I'd bet all of us could tell a small town yokel if we saw them. I think Frank was going for that. However, I think he took his small town yokel models from a good reading of Deliverance.
