Ted Grant can be a dick at times. There was a JSA comic a few years back where Grant was bragging how he likes to get new members in the boxing ring and beat them up to show them who's the boss.


I think I got some of the chronology mixed up earlier but the TV scene is in All-Star Comics #60 from June 1976.
