certain families are chosen as "neisen families"
They are given special boxes that record which family member watches what, when, and what channel.
They give these boxes to "Normal" American families, mainly middle class with 2.5 kids.
Now they track chosen DVR owners. I'm guessing the family thing does not apply to that one because I'm a Nielsen DVR monitored person or whatever.
The DVR one is much more in depth. They even monitor what is fast forwarded, paused, replayed etc...
There are also rules such as you have 3 days to watch the show you recorded or it doesnt count.
