All good points there Pro and I agree with most of what you say.I rarely tell a new reader to read Watchmen, unless it's someone who's seen the movie and wants to read it based off of liking the film.Reason being is,it's a heavy read and really I think off-putting to new readers. It delves into subjects that a longer reading fan would understand but brand new reader?.....probably not. DKR I tell someone who loves Batman and is at least in their late teens to check it out....mainly because I was 17 when I first read it and still regard it as must-read and yeah that was during Reagan's America

Times they are changing,no doubt about it and comics change too and yes some people might not appreciate the classics we hold in high regard...but I have found that by showing them and giving reasons why this run or story is regarded as must-read,they might see it differently then if they were just to read it themselves without any more than just a bland recomendation.
As for the Byrne FF Omnibus,no I haven't picked it up.....yet.I still have all the FF visionaries volumes that hold up pretty well, but that and the Simonson Thor omnibus are sooooooooo tempting.
