Grimm, thanks for the input. I've actually noticed the fanfic here isn't "serious" for lack of a better term. I was never going to post the Bruce stuff here. This was just one way to try and recruit writers for the project.

You say you don't take it personally, and then you reveal that you obviously are doing that. Have you stopped in the off topic forum, by chance? If not, give it a look around. Take a glance at the welcome PM you should've gotten upon registering here.

These boards. . .they're not like other message boards. There's a lot of zaniness, a lot of off topic insanity that happens. It's a wretched hive of scum and villainy. It's simply the way of the boards. Being thin skinned will only get you more "hazing." My advice is don't take it too seriously.

As far as the writing, I wish you luck, but we don't do a lot of actual "fanfic" writing here. Most of the writing posted here is original works, even the round robin stories are based on original characters of the poster's creation. I'm not saying that you won't find someone interested in your fanfic project, just that this isn't the likeliest place based on our collective output.

But by all means, feel free to post your works and links to other writing forums, and feel free to link back here.

Except for MOTA's story, there is no fanfic here. Pastiche, yeah, but no fanfic. We generally encourage original stories/characters here for the most part.

I write fan fiction, and am helping to develop a new project that will launch this September. Remember the young Bruce Wayne series pitched to WB that eventually turned into Smallville? Well, that pitch is being turned into a virtual series. Episodes will be posted online as full length scripts.

I would like to stress three things about this. First, the person who initially developed this concept will be given full credit for doing so. We're not out to plagarize, and disclaimers will be present on the site.

Second, while the series is based on that pitch, we have only used it as a template, adding and removing things in making the project our own.

Third, this series will have its own continuity, separate from the comics, cartoons and movies, including the upcoming Batman Begins.

We're still in need of writers and other staff. We have a web site, but it's currently down. I'll post the link when it's back up. If you're interested, email me or find me on AIM. Any questions, post them here. The clock is ticking though, so don't bother if you're not serious. We have a lot to do in the coming months.

This was a hell of an idea. We should get started on it.

Pariah is well ahead of you on that one.

Oddly enough I had this idea the other day.

Eighteen year old Bruce Wayne has joined a circus in Europe, training with an American called Boston Brand. Three MIT undergrads on vacation, Barry Allen, John Henry Irons, and Ray Palmer, meet suspicious and moody Wayne. Wayne makes a snide remark about having graduated from MIT when he was 14, and a second degree from Yale when he was 18. The three undergrads get uppity and what they regard as an obvious lie. They form the belief that Wayne is actually a cat burglar who has been plaguing some wealthy people in Europe.

Turns out Wayne is stealing stuff: advanced car designs from a drug lord, some weapons designs from an Australian criminal named Harkness, body armour prototypes from the HIVE. They are about to bust him when a Japanese guy named Asano Nitobe and an American women named Christine St Clair intercede. Nitobe says they are from Interpol, and St Clair arrests Wayne. Wayne is lead away in handcuffs to be taken to Nitobe's private jet. Nitobe stealthily unlocks the cuffs while distracting Palmer, Irons and Allen. The three college guys all think how cool it is to fight crime and put a bad guy away, and Allen is inspired to become a police scientist.

Alfred is gay as a spring lamb.

Single guy with a moustache in his 50s who enjoys massaging muscular eccentric tights-wearing billionaires, spends his spare time dusting and cooking souffle for his bosses, whom he calls "Master Bruce" and "Master Dick"?

Most of my gay friends would fucking fall over themselves for that gig.

"Its raining superheroes! Hallelujah!"

Isn't Lothar married? When did he become gay?

I mean, there's nothing wrong with that, I'm just surprised....

Lothar became gay right around the time you started eating poo, a few days after I started eating dogs and roughly a day before Mxy started having sex with cows.

I thought Rob was gay.

Does this mean Lothar is Rob?

Since I'm going all fan boy on this thread, another Young Bruce Wayne story I'd like to read is a look at Batman's geneology. There is a line in DKR where the Waynes comment upon how fast young Bruce is. Thomas is a doctor. Martha's occupation is unknown. Were there Olympic athletes in the family tree which gave Bruce Wayne the genes to be the athlete he is? It'd be nice if Martha is actually shown to be a world-class gymnast or fencer.

Plus, where did the Wayne fortune come from? Wayne's wealth is described as old family money (in the movie, the mansion is described as being used to help escaped slaves in the US Civil War). Were the Waynes traders, or old European money?

This led me to the idea that Thomas Wayne might have had an ancestor who had a reason to leave England for America. It is 1835, the year of the appearance of Halley's Comet, the fall of the Alamo, the destruction of 530 buildings in New York City because of a fire that raged for several days and nights, the massacre of over 280 people in Africa by ten thousand Zulu warriors, and wars that erupted in Cuba, Mexico, Equador, Central America, Peru, Argentina, and Bolivia.

Colonel Sir Garnet Wayne, a wounded veteran of England's wars in Afghanistan, might have teamed up with a strangely energetic Greek woman named Hippolyta, and an Egyptian trader with apparently mystic powers named Abin Sur, to deal with a spirit of vengeance wearing a green cloak who is killing criminals around London's notorious Drury Lane (the location of the Muffin Man was actually one of London's most blighted spots for centuries).

During the episode, Sir Garnet saves a beautiful Italian heiress, Lady Selina Bertolini, who had sworn a vendetta against some London criminals who had killed her father. It was this vendetta that brought the attention of the spirit of vengeance to Drury Lane.

The experience shook up Sir Garnet and Lady Selina, and they decide to leave London together with their combined wealth for North America.

Ah yes. Frivolous. Now I should go back to work.

I dunno. Batman always struck me as having more Celtic ancestry. He doesn't look all that English.
