I'm under 40, and I remember the Lone Ranger. The cartoon was on Saturday mornings as a kid. Plus, I watched the old Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels on one of the local channels on Sundays.

Still, I don't think they know 1) how to do a western anymore 2) not just rip off the Pirates of the Caribbean formula without really trying to work off the concepts of the character. The recent comics were a pretty good updating of the concept for the 21st century audience.
