dexter decided not to kill some guy, after wanting to kill this guy all season. also, this guy killed his faux mom, his neighbor, and threatened him and his family many times. but dexter just wanted to go be with his family, so he was like "nah".
then that guy shot deb.
then dexter visited deb, and she was all like "i'm fucking fine, fuck you". and then dexter was all "alright, cool. peace, i'm out with hannah."
and then hannah was all like "oh shit, i should just bring your son with me, and you go tie up the lose ends you just told me you don't want to tie up." and dex is like "ok".
oh, wait, sorry, now deb is dying. she's a vegetable now. and there's a hurricane!
dexter finds that guy, kills him in front of cameras and his police brethren. that coulda been a storyline, but the brethren are like "oh wow. ok, have a good vacation, dex". then dex walks into deb's empty hospital, helps deb die, then takes her out back to the "hospital-on-the-water-loading-zone" and carries the dead body, un-noticed, into his boat, drops her in the ocean, and drives into the hurricane. dexter is dead now.
no he's not, he beat the hurricane. now he's a log farmer in alaska or something.
hannah arrives in south america, reads that dexter died on the internet, and gets dex's son some ice cream.
