Brosnan was the perfect casting. To this day, I believe he was the person all of the other Bonds were trying to be even if I didn't necessarily enjoy his films (I like Golden Eye and Tomorrow Never Dies).

That being said, Dalton is still my favorite since his depiction/stories were the least boring of the franchise, and his character was far more practical--if not truly practical--as a spy. Roger Moore voiced reservations about being more violent and conniving than clever. But, ultimately, Bond's character would have to be as ruthless as Dalton or Craig to get the job done.

As much as I liked Craig's attitude, his physical appearance can't possibly be reconciled with Bond's character. Also, the stories for his films were some of the silliest bit of shitty fucking writing ever conceived. Naturally though, the directors were more concerned with covering up plot weakness and inconsistency with action sequences than they were with making the story coherent.
