As detailed in my post above, Trump was paid his presidential salary in quarterly installments, and publicly wrote checks to the Veterans' administration and other charitable groups on those quarterly occasions.

I don't know how that can be disputed, but okay.


Other presidents before Trump have donated their salary, as I recall JFK and Herbert Hoover.
But up till Trump, it had been awhile since others have done so.

I can speculate a few reasons Trump didn't claim his $400,000 salary donations in his 2020 tax return :
1) He wanted to make it a true donation, and not exploit it as a tax deduction. That is actually more charitable.
2) Trump donated the equivalent $400,000 from his own savings rather than from his actual presidential salary checks, because of some complication or delay in the release of funds from the actual paycheck.
Possibly other reasons, but those are two reasons I can speculate offhand.
