Dave, what's your take on why Trump would not disclose his tax returns?
I'm not trying to bait you, just interested in your view on it as I've never heard a Trump supporter's side of the story. (Never enquired, to be honest.)
I think it's because he has very complicated tax returns, that among tax accountants and lawyers are perfectly legitimate write-offs and expenses, but that Democrats would oversimplify and exploit in campaign ads to demagogue Trump as an evil rich guy.
It would be just giving the Democrats ammunition to unjustly carpet bomb Trump with negative ads. Democrats are very skilled at coming up with incendiary bumper-sticker type slogans, that would take 10,000 words of explanation to fully explain why the Democrats are lying. So his mindset is, why give Democrats the opportunity?
Trump has already vindicated himself on every major accusation, federal investigation, impeachment, and contrived "whistleblower" accusation over the last 9 years.
NINE STRAIGHT YEARS OF INVESTIGATION, each where the INVESTIGATORS are the ones exposed as corrupt !
The Democrats have been proven vicious liars who have twisted the facts and abused federal power, every single time. To the point that it is shown that the people in FBI, DOJ, House members like Adam Schiff, and agents like Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, Bill Priestap, James Comey and Andrew McCabe, are the ones who should be in jail, for crimes THEY (not Trump) have committed.
And it's a boy crying wolf scenario, where most of the American public no longer believes the new accusations against Trump, and are actually increasingly motivated to side with Trump because of the obscene unfairness of each pile-on new lawfare attack (with the exception of the CNN, MSNBC, New York Times and Washington Post crowd and their readers, who are incapable of sympahy or objectivity, driven by blind hatred of Trump and not by the facts, and therefore eagerly jump on ANY new narrative that attacks Trump, even after all the Trump narratives that have been disproven as false.)
The poll numbers support what I'm saying, that every new indictment, every new gag order, causes another rise in the polls for Trump's 2024 campaign. And not just among Republicans, but among Independents and Democrats as well.
