It’s been sad seeing Trump trash relationships between our friends and allies just to feed his ego. I look at all his failed businesses and all the fools that have so much faith in him.
That is, of course, the Democrat narrative of what Trump is doing, not what Trump is actually doing.
Trump is negotiating
equal and proportionate tariffs with the nations that have been fleecing us for decades with unfair trade practices. And the evidence is nations across the world have renewed respect for the U.S. that they did not have during he Obama and Biden years.
I'm not really sure what the full purpose of Trump's talk about "making Canada the 51st state" is all about. But it's clearly unserious, and trolling both Trudeau and the ineffectual Canadian Left, and also trolling and riling up Democrats into a derangement syndrome frenzy here in the U.S.
I've also thought, after Canadians' initial anger about the idea of Canada becoming part of the U.S., that when that anger cools off, they might ponder the idea that they might actually be better off as part of the U.S.
But again, I think Trump is not serious about making Canada part of the U.S., at least not until a decade or so in the future, where Canadians have suffered so much under severaal adminisrattions of liberal/leftist control of Canada that they will as a whole become far more conservative.
There are some states of Canada that are much more conservative, that I could see seceding and offering to become part of the United States, such as Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. But the rest of Canada is much more like California, Oregon, Washington, New York state and Massachusetts.
To have all of Canada join the U.S. would just give Democrats a permanent majority in the U.S.
As I said, I see Trump's comments as unserious.
But it is fun to watch leftists on both sides of the border lose their minds over the idea being floated by Trump.
