Who knows what Musk's logic was for making those posts about Trump, saying that Trump should be investigated and should / would be impeached over his ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
But even David Schoen, who was Epstein's lawyer before Epstein mysteriously died, said that Epstein many times had told Schoen he had no evidence against Trump.

I think Elon Musk contributed an enormous amount of time toward DOGE, and gave over $250 milllion toward getting Trump elected in Nov 2024, and Musk was frustrated that more of the cuts he worked so hard to find weren't implemented in the final "Big Beautiful Bill" (I hate that name) legislation.
Although the final bill has not been drafted yet.
As I said, Musk was frustrated that so much work on his part was set aside, and it appears his posts were to lash back at Trump for not making those cuts happen, that Musk worked so hard to investigate and push for.

Musk also wanted a friend of his to be made head of NASA, and that was rejected by Trump as well.
I don't know what was the breaking point for Musk, but those are the visible pieces. And Musk seems to realize he went too far, and has publicly apologized and made overtures toward Trump to make peace. But even though said in momentary anger and spite, too much was said for him to ever be embraced back fully into the Trumpoverse again.

I even considered the possibility that the whole thing was all a choreographed fake break-up between Musk and Trump, so that Musk could distance himself and his businesses from Trump, and his public attacks against Trump would make Musk (and his Tesla cars) welcomed back by the Democrat/left world again. But I think the Democrat/Left remains very unforgiving of Musk, and still has the knives out for him, any chance they get.

The right comment by Musk would have been the morning after his posts to say: "Hey, I had too many shots of tequila last night, and I shouldn't have gotten anywhere near my "X" account, sorry about those posts."
Or maybe: "My cat somehow got my user-name and password, and it was actually him making all those crazy posts last night. Please disregard."

And while Elon Musk did make some apologies about a week after the fact, it still wasn't enough.
