Flooding in a rural area of central Texas, where the water reached at least 26 feet high in less than 24 hours. Those are floodwaters higher than the roof of a 3 story building. A least 82 dead,. 40 of them adults, and 28 children, with dozens more still missing. Over 20 inches of rain in a 1 or 2 day period, and it came down so rapidly from the hills into the lowlands that there was really nowhere else to go.
The good news is that FEMA and helicopters were rushed into the area, and 237 people were rescued, mostly by helicopters. That's at least something, but probably little consolation for the surviving families of the 82 confirmed dead.
The closest I can compare it to here in South Florida was in Nov 1994, when we had over 10 inches of rain in just 2 days. But back in the 1950's in our area, the federal government spent about $ 5 billion building a massive drainage system, that allows that level of rain to be pumped out into unpopulated swamp areas. But even at that time, the news reported that at over 10 inches, the level of rain came very close to overwhelming the system, and if any higher, could have resulted in massive life-threatening flooding and devastation That without that drainage system, if any higher we would have seen homes floating down the river, as often happens with floods that occur on the Mississippi River.
And just to further demonstrate how consistently evil the Democrat/Left is, a recent former Houston city board appointee, boiled all this down to race, describing this summer camp retreat for girls as a "white only camp for girls", that apparently in her mind deserved what happened to them because they were white and Christian.

Sade Perkins, a former member of the Houston Food Insecurity Board, made the claims about Camp Mystic in Hunt, Texas, in a TikTok video this weekend.
The office of Houston Mayor John Whitmire confirmed to Fox News Digital that Perkins posted the video. She was appointed by former Mayor Sylvester Turner in 2023, and her term expired in January 2025. "But Camp Mystic is a Whites-only girls Christian camp," Perkins continued. "They don't even have a token Asian, they don't have a Token Black person, it is a all White, White-only conservative Christian camp."
"If you ain't White, you ain't right," she claimed. "You ain't getting in, you ain't going, period."
Perkins added, "It's not to say that we don't want the girls to be found, whatever girls that are missing… but you best believe, especially in today's political climate, if this were a group of Hispanic girls….this would not be getting this type of coverage that they're getting. No one would give a f--k."
The former appointee said that she intended "no shade" for the girls who were missing or killed due to the flood, and said that she "hope[s] they all get found," but suggested that there was too much sympathy for them.
"They want you to have sympathy for these people. They want to get out of your bed and to come out of your home and to go find these people and to donate your money to go to find these people," Perkins said in the video.
With that last sentence, her hate is clearly so deep, she obviously doesn't think these girls deserve to be helped and rescued.

Critics of President Donald Trump wasted no time blaming staffing cuts at the National Weather Service (NWS) for the widespread death and destruction caused by the floods in Texas, a reaction the White House called "shameful and disgusting."
At least 59 people, including 21 children, have been confirmed dead from the flash floods along the Guadalupe River that began Friday. Eleven children and one counselor remain missing from a girls' summer camp near the river, which flooded due to the remnants of Tropical Storm Barry. That storm made landfall over Mexico, but triggered massive unexpected thunderstorms over parts of Texas.
"It only took 9 days for Trump's cuts to the [National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration] to kill dozens of children in Texas when Tropical Storm Barry landed this week," Grant Stern, the executive editor of Occupy Democrats, wrote on X.
"The people in Texas voted for government services controlled by Donald Trump and Greg Abbott," added Ron Filipkowski, former federal prosecutor and the editor-in-chief of MediasTouchNews. "That is exactly what they (sic) getting."
"What has happened to the girls at Camp Mystic is EXACTLY what one of the country's best meteorologists, John Morales, warned would happen," added Rachel Bitecofer, assistant director at Christopher Newport University's Wason Center for Public Policy. "Trump's cuts to the NOAA & NWS have critically impacted storm prediction nationwide."
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem held a press conference Saturday, and acknowledged some of the criticisms regarding the nation's flood notification systems, which included concerns that weather forecasts underestimated the amount of rain that ultimately fell.
Noem noted that the Trump administration is "currently upgrading" the nation's flood notification technology, which she described as "ancient."
When the [weather] system came over the area, it stalled," Noem said during the press conference. "It was much more water, much like [what] we experienced during [Hurricane] Harvey, with the same type of system that was unpredictable in the way that it reacted in the way that it stopped right here and dumped unprecedented amounts of rain that caused a flooding event like this."
Tom Fahy, legislative director for the National Weather Service Employees Organization, told NBC News that weather forecasting offices were adequately staffed, and "they issued timely forecasts and warnings leading up to the storm," but he added that unfilled leadership positions were "clearly a concern."
"All I'll say is this. The National Weather Service issued a flood watch for Kerr County more than 12 hours ahead of the catastrophic flood. A flash flood warning was issued for Hunt & Ingram 3 HOURS before the Guadalupe started to climb," said Texas-based meteorologist Avery Tomasco. "They did their job and they did it well."
The same sentiment was echoed by other meteorological experts as well.
But, still, news of the advanced warnings has not stopped people from using the catastrophe to criticize the Trump administration.
"The reason Trump defunded the National Weather Service leading to the deaths of all those girls in the Texas flood is because PROJECT 2025 THOUGHT WEATHER PREDICTION SCIENCE WAS TIED TO EVIDENCE OF CLIMATE CHANGE," musician Mikel Jollett wrote on X.
Isaiah Martin, a Democratic candidate for Texas's 18th Congressional District, called for an immediate congressional investigation into "the Republican DOGE cuts to NOAA and the National Weather Service."
Despite all these leftist fanatics jabbing in the long knives to try and blame Trump, it is acknowledged that warnings were given between up to 12 hours in advance, and at least 3 hours in advance of the flooding. So there was no lack of meteorological warning in advance of the flooding, and the officials on the ground in Texas make clear that there just wasn't time to notify people in the path of the flooding, because it happened so rapidly, in a very isolated area with limited cel phone coverage on the best of days. And because communications were down due to the storm, as the flood was occurring. It happened that fast.
But as vicious infighter Rahm Emmanuel said as chief of staff during the Obama administration he was part of: "Never let a crisis go to waste." In this case, the chance to slanderously attack Trump, despite the actual facts that prove these allegations are absolutely false, that the Texas deaths had nothing to do with Trump's budget cuts.

From 2017-2020 Trump was president, oil prices went down by half, from about $3.60 to about $1.80 a gallon. In 2021, those fuel prices skyrocketed due to bad policy, as soon as Biden (or his Auto-pen) became president. Because the Democrats had horrible policy.
Under Trump's first term, the United States became oil-independent for the first time in 72 years. In 2021 in less than 4 years, Biden (or his Auto-pen) destroyed domestic oil production, so we were going to nations like Venezuela and Saudi Arabia BEGGING for them to produce more oil to send us. And they in no uncertain terms to Biden said "NO", and fuck you.
Biden spent 7 trillion in pointless added debt in just 4 years, causing hyperinflaion, an average of at least 25% inflation on everything, and over 100% inflation on monthly home mortgage payments and other things.
Biden undermined law enforcement and set criminals free, aided by Soros funded D.A.'s and Soros-funded U.S. attorneys like Alvin Bragg, who refused to prosecute violent criminals, which resuled in a massive escalation in violent crime and murders nationwide. If Biden or Kamala Harris were still president, we would be approaching World War III. But because Trump is in office, there is peace developing in Gaza, Syria, Yemen, Lebanon, and ultimately Iran. Because of Trump's decisive action (and Israel's, with the full support of Trump).
Trump has additionally negotiated peace between India and Pakistan in the las few monhs, that was about to become a major war.
And also negotiated peace in sub-Saharan Africa, a decades long war between the Democratic Republic of Congo and other neighboring states, bringing another senseless bloody conflict to an end.
And also Trump's Sate Department also negoiated peace between Serbia and Kosovo.
And if Biden or Kamala Harris had remained in the White House, all these conflicts would be escalating, not ending.
Biden pretty much gave Russia an invitation to invade Ukraine. When at a press conference in early 2022, asked if the U.S. would act to protect Ukraine from a Russian invasion, he said "No if it's just aa small incursion". So 2 weeks later, Russia invaded. Something Russia would NEVER have done if Trump had remained president instead of Biden.
There are over 1 million dead on both sides now in the Ukraine war. Russia has lost more tanks in Ukraine than it lost in all of World War II.
And while Joe Biden was president, the Russians called the White House FOR THREE YEARS, ALMOST EVERY DAY, and neither Biden or anyone in his administration would pick up the phone to even atempt to negotiate a resolution. For THREE YEARS.
Trump immediately began negotiations with Russia. I think Trump tried to negotiate with Putin to let Putin end the war without being humiliated. But since Putin keeps promising and not actually delivering a peaceful resolution as promised across multiple attempted negotiations, in the last few days Trump has gotten Saudi Arabia and other nations to increase oil production, that will vastly lower the global price per barrel of oil over the next few weeks (Russia's primary economic resource, and what funds their war economy), and if the price of oil goes below $50 per barrel, that will cut off Russia's funds so they are no longer able to continue the war in Ukraine.
This is what Trump could have done the first day he was re-inaugurated, but he tried to give Putin an easier and face-saving way out. But now Trump will do what has to be done, and the global drop in oil prices will force Russia to end to the Ukraine war.
And China, that was preparing for an invasion of Taiwan by 2027, would have done so if Biden or Kamala Harris had remained in the White House. But with Trump in office, China is severely weakened, both politically and economically, and is now deterred by a resurgent U.S. military, and a decisive president Trump who will not hesitate to use it. In addition to the bombing 2 weeks ago destroying Iran's nuclear program, it was also an added deterrent to China, if they had any further plans to invade Taiwan.
And the over $ 8 trillion of investment into the U.S. economy, into A.I., into factories and other development since Trump became president. Money that would not be invested in the U.S. economy if Biden, Harris or any other Democrat, or many other Republicans candidates were in charge. Because they are "Democratic Socialists" / COMMUNISTS who believe in PUNISHING businesses and capital earnings, believe in an oppressive "tax the rich" central federal government. And if these Democrat-Bolsheviks were in charge they would further be crushing the fossil fuel industry, crusshing energy production and AI, and every other kind of business.
Because Democrats under Biden/JKamala were preventing any further oil drilling in the United States, the deposits left when Trump was elected would be drying up now, and gas would be approaching $9 / gallon, and FURTHER causing inflation and rising costs for the middle class and poor, FURTHER destroying the economy. But because Trump was elected this was prevented, just in the nick of time. Inflation is already dropping lower than 2%, in just Trump's first 5 months after inauguration. Domestic drilling of new deposits is back in production.
So... what part of this sounds like it was going better under the Democrats? I don't see any evidence presented of "key positions missing due to Trump cuts", but sure, why not, let the Democrats (or some more neutral agency) investigate. But the situaion is in Texas, and Trump has broken up FEMA to transfer its federal funds to be handled better locally in each respective state. And Texas governor Abbott has expressed a commitment to make sure measures are taken to prevent a tragedy like this from happening again. FEMA handled in the future by the states and not federally can only improve service, as contrasted with East Palestine, Ohio, and in North Carolina in the Biden years. How abou a thorugh investigation of the deliberate negligence THOSE two disasters?
In the Camp Mystic flood that killed over 20 girls in Texas, the river rose from 0 to over 26 feet in just 45 minutes, between 3 AM and 5 AM. One of the suggestions for such a rural area with unreliable cel phone coverage and little other available communication, was to put in something like an air raid siren, to warn people across a wide distance quickly in a similar future situation. That seems like a good way to awaken and warn people in the middle of the night, as was the unfortunate situation on July 4th. Even if they got cel phone messages that night, they were all sleeping and not awake to hear or see them.

I think every agency has inefficiency that could be cut to eliminate corruption and waste without hurting service to the public, at leas 5% or 10%. And DOGE in its first few months demonstrated that well.
Elon Musk went thermonuclear about his researched cuts not all being used in the final legislation passed. But he has to be a realist. If there were 535 Elon Musks in the House and Senate, then it could have passed as he wanted it. I'm sympathetic to the amount of 20 hour days and long work Elon Musk put into researching budget waste, and his frustration that work was glossed over and not used.
But in the real world with with a two party system, and compromise necessary to pass anything, Musk has to understand that Trump and the other Republicans had to negotiate the best deal they could with the narrow margins they had. Now that it has passed, voters should see economic benefit before the mid-term, and be inclined to re-elect Republicans in with larger margins. And with larger margins. Trump and the Republicans can pass more conservative legislation with the greater reductions DOGE recommended, in future legislation. Musk should be smart enough to understand that.
