Joan Collins has been smoking hot since long before she did the Star Trek episode "City on the Edge of Forever" back in April 1967. (At that time 33, first aired about a month before her 34th birthday.)

I recall around 1986 she posed nude for PLAYBOY (around age 50) and she still looked better in those photos than most 20 year olds.
I'd love to have those photos here, if I or someone else here can find them.

Her younger sister was highly successful bestseller / trash novelist Jackie Collins (born 1937) , until she passed away a few years ago.
But highly successful and very prolific for decades, while she was alive.

I loved in COMICS JOURNAL, they had a "summer reading list" of what comics writers and artists listed they were reading that year, and Dave Sim listed one of his picks as Fuck Me Harder and Faster by Joan Collins.

Even in the 1980's where, especially by Hollywood standards, she could be argued to have been past her prime, she was as beautiful as 20 years prior, if not even more so.
And her nude photos in PLAYBOY are testament to that.

I couldn't resist digging up a few more photos of Joan Collins from the Star Trek episode "City On The Edge Of Forever" from 1967.
Which won the best televised screenplay of the year, from the Screen Actors Guild.





And here (along with even more photos) is a lengthy behind the scenes of how the episode was originally scripted by Ellison, and then Roddenberry and others revised the script to be more consistent with the rest of the series. It's well known that Harlan Ellison was not pleased with the changes to his screenplay, but there's a lot of explanation as to precisely why many details were changed, and of efforts to make peace with Ellison and make him feel included in the changes. William Shatner even called him to make peace, and just got yelled at by Ellison for making the effort.

Joan Collins was 33 years old when this episode was filmed.

On the channel FXM, they are running a movie Joan Collins was in, The Wayward Bus (1957), with a 24 year old Joan Collins in a John Steinbeck adaptation, about an unhappy wife running a roadside diner, and her husband who works as a driver for a Greyhound bus (or some similar line), and the two struggle to keep their unhappy marriage together, and the diner customers and bus passengers also reveal their personal demons on the journey. Jayne Mansfield, also in her prime, is one of the bus passengers.

A movie I liked more that also appears frequently on FXM is Seven Thieves (1960), where Joan Collins (at age 27) is one of a group of criminals recruited to pull off a big financial heist. The best part is the opening scene, where the mastermind is recruiting several into the heist crew in a hotel night club, and Joan Collins is doing her full routine as a stripper onstage, and then is revealed to be one of the heist gang
Joan Collins was trained in stripping for the role by a famous stripper named Candy Barr (who is linked in the Wikipedia movie listing.) She had connections to Jack Ruby, and was interviewed by FBI after JFK's assassination.

I wasn't really looking for these movies, I just stumbled on them while flipping through the cable TV guide, and thought I'd share. I saw both these movies a few years ago on FXM, and they are apparently still playing them regularly.

I tried to make Joan Collins more interesting by posting photos of her from multiple eras, up through the 1980's in her prrime, and even after 1990-up in her 70's, she still looked quite attractive.
Mercifully, the photos I posted of her at 92 were blocked by the site I sourced them from.
Still looking quite good for her age, but yeah, not her best photos.

An actress I'd compare her to is Sarah Douglas, who looked her absolute best in a Space 1999 episode (appearing nude in that role, as much as they could show!) .

If not the single best episode of the series, and Joan Collins' best performance, certainly up there near the top.
Winner of the Screen Writers' Guild award for best television screenplay of 1967.
And also won a Hugo Award in 1968 for best dramatic presentation.

I remember that issue and how ancient she seemed at the time. Now, that seems like a young chick!

When that PLAYBOY issue came out, I was 20 years old. Now I'm 62.
And as I recall, you're a year younger than me.

Joan Collins was 50 in those photos, and while she didn't look overly "old" to me at the time, I felt that while she was older, she was looking good for her age at 50. And quite sexy. Maybe not as hot as your average nude 20 year old in PLAYBOY or PENTHOUSE in that era, but still pretty damn sexy.

Now seeing those photos of her at 50 (now, as a 62 year old), she looks a bit younger.
