A lot of shows and movies have gone to shit because they abandoned the kid and adult demographic in favor of targeting the tween demographic, which is stupid because tweens don't really have a lot of spending money(as opposed to adults who do have spending money, and kids who have parents with spending money) and stories that revolve around tweens are uninteresting, even to the teens themselves.
Maybe it's because the new generation of executives are people who thought their best days were in their tweens, and are intentionally crafting media around that thinking that the rest of the world feels the same about their tween years.
