This really happened three days ago, on Friday, Jan 16th, but I didn't see any news about why until I looked today.

Unique among conservative hosts, Chris Salcedo is deeply and unreservedly sharp in his criticism of Republicans who campaign election after election as conservatives, and then are RINOs who cave in to the Democrat/Left at every turn once elected, and re-elected. Based in Texaas, Salcedo is particularly critical of Senator John Cornyn of Texas, and of the Texas Republican-majority state legislature, that over and over side wih the Democrat minority to vote in Democrats as Texas legislation majority leaders, and pander to Democrat political interests, despite that Texas voers are deeply conservative, and elec them to represent their conservative interests..

Aside from myself, Salcedo is the only host I've ever heard refer to Democrats as "Bolsheviks". Alhough I'd been saying it for many years before I heard Salcedo say it. And like myself, he says it to identify the mob violence, intimiddation tactics and cancel-culture of the Democrat-Bolshevik party. Although Salcedo seemed to back off from saying that overtly in recent months, perhaps due to network pressure from Newsmax head Chris Ruddy.

In any case, like when Greta Van Susteren was abruptly pulled from Fox about 10 years ago, like when Bill O'Reilly was abruptly taken off Fox (if I recall, in early 2017), like when Tucker Carlson was abruptly taken off Fox in April 2023 (NEVER explained by Fox), in each case, it is infuriating as a viewer to not even know WHY they were taken off the air.
I think when a station fires a host, and you have to go to other networks and news agencies to even get the slightest clue why they were removed, that is a bad business model. And it manifests the asshollery of those in charge. It also tells every oher host and reporter on the network, if their time comes, they will get exactly the same treatment, and to set up other backup options and not give the network their absolute loyalty for exactly that reason.
And it tells viewers not to give the network their absolute loyalty either, because the network has already shown their propensity to lie by omission, and not give them answers when viewers really need those answers. Such as the network going along with the narrative that "Biden won the Nov 2020 election", and "to just accept it" despite all the visibly omitted facts, that have continued to come out and become undeniable over the last 5 years. .

Here is the slightest skeleton of an explanation I've been able to find explaining why in this particular case Salcedo was fired.

I suspect it was low ratings. Salcedo, Higbie, and Van Susteren's show times were shuffled in Sept 2025, just 4 months ago, and I guess a bump in viewership didn't happen. So why doesn't Newsmax come right out and say that?

But it could be because Salcedo had a vigor for being honest with his viewers, giving viewers the full facts, even when it got him blowback for being critical of a number of Republicans who were not true to their stated conservative values. Thou shalt not speak ill of a fellow Republican, even if that Republican are a RINO, because this is, after all, a Republican/conservative network. So fall in line, or be replaced by someone who will.
