Thanos is Marvel's rip-off / re-tread version of Darkseid, created by Jim Starlin (although done very well, in Starlin's CAPTAIN MARVEL 25-34 run, and then AVENGERS ANNUAL 7 and MARVEL TWO IN ONE ANNUAL 2) . Comparable in quality to, or perhaps even better, than Kirby's Fourth World storyline. The two characters are so closely related, it could almost be an incest love story, if they chose to do a story along those lines.
