Frazetta's "The Berserker" as it appeared on the 1967 Conan the Conqueror Robert E. Howard paperback.

It gains quite a bit in poster form :

Most of Frazetta's paintings were originally seen as Robert E. Howard, Edgar Rice Burroughs or other science fiction book covers, or covers for Warren magazines, in the 1964-1980 period, before they later became posters, limited prints, T-shirts, and resin figures.

The series of 12 books collecting Robert E. Howard's Conan stories, was first published by Lancer books from 1966-1971.
Then slightly revised (and better) re-organized in a new series in 1971-1994 by Ace books.
In both series, Frazetta did covers on 8 of the 12 books, in both the Lancer and Ace series versions, with Boris Vallejo covers on the other 4 books in the Ace series (volumes 3, 4, 11 and 12). Boris covers replacing John Duillo covers on 3, 4 and 12 in the earlier Lancer series. Volume 11 was only released after 1977, in the Lancer series.

1. CONAN (cover is Frazetta poster"Man-Ape")
2. CONAN OF CIMMERIA (cover is Frazetta poster "The Snow Giants")
3. CONAN THE FREEBOOTER ( Vallejo cover, artist John Duillo on the earlier Lancer series cover )
4. CONAN THE WANDERER ( Vallejo cover, artist John Duillo on the earlier Lancer series cover)
5. CONAN THE ADVENTURER ( cover is Frazetta poster "The Barbarian")
6. CONAN THE BUCCANEER (cover is Frazetta poster"The Destroyer")
7. CONAN THE WARRIOR (cover is Frazetta poster"The Indomitable" )
8. CONAN THE USURPER (cover is Frazetta poster "Chained" )
9. CONAN THE CONQUEROR ( cover is Frazetta poster "The Berserker")
10. CONAN THE AVENGER (cover is Frazetta poster "The Sacrifice" )
11. CONAN OF AQUILONIA ( Vallejo cover )
12. CONAN OF THE ISLES ( Vallejo cover, artist John Duillo on the earlier Lancer series cover )

Vols. 1-5, and 7-9 have Robert E. Howard stories, that also include completed R E H fragments or completely new stories by L.Sprague DeCamp and Lin Carter. Some are complete R.E.H. stories found after Howard's death, but in his lifetime unpublished.
Only 18 R.E. H. stories were published while R.E. Howard was sttill alive. (Jan 22 1906- June 11 1936).
And 8 more R E H story fragments or complete manuscripts found and published after his death.

Vols. 6 and 10-12 have all new stories by Lin Carter and L. Sprague DeCamp.

A Kevin Nowlan DOCTOR STRANGE poster, from 1983.

This was the beginning of when I noticed Kevin Nowlan as a rising talent. At his best, on a par with Charles Vess and Michael Kaluta.

Nowlan did a single issue fill-in story during Roger Stern's DOCTOR STRANGE run, (issue 57, in 1983) .
And a few issues of MOON KNIGHT (issues 29, 31, 32, 33, and 35, also 1983), after Bill Sienkiewicz left the series.

Over roughly 45 years in the field, Kevin Nowlan has done relatively little comics work, relative to how long he's been in comics.
Particularly in terms of doing full art, that's been limited to a handful of stories and covers over all that time.

A 70's convention drawing of Big Barda by Mike Royer.
While a solo job, it looks as if he were inking Kirby!
Possibly from the first year of their collaboration, when Royer's inks were at their cleanest.

I found out this one is a page from the 1973 ACBA {Academy of Comic Book Arts] Sketchbook.
Something they apparently only did in the years 1973 and 1975, to raise money for their annual awards dinners.
Awards were given annually for material published in the years from 1970-1975. But while ACBA may technically have still existed those last 2 years, I don't see that they gave dinners or awards for 1976 and 1977.
After ACBA folded, Marvel and DC began citing annual winners of British fandom's Eagle Awards, till the Eisner, Kirby and Harvey awards came along in the early 1980's.

Just in time for Halloween, here's a suitable-for-framing Michael Golden splash page, from HOUSE OF SECRETS 151, April-May 1978. This is the first I've seen signed with Golden's decorative signature "G". There is an additional 6-page story in this issue by Golden, and a beautiful Kaluta cover.

Golden also did signature splash pages for issues 148 and 149. There might have been a lot more Golden splash pages and mystery stories, and BATMAN stories, if not for the DC Implosion in Oct 1978, that sent Michael Golden, Bob Layton, Dave Michelinie, Jerry Bingham, Al Milgrom and many other freelancers over to Marvel, due to the fact there was no work available at DC for about a year, as DC suddenly was publishing half as many titles, and had a huge inventory to use up from all the cancelled titles.

I counted 94 issues with Golden art total from 1977-1990, and of those, 23 of them were for DC in this early period from Jan-Oct 1978.
Including:
BATMAN 295 and 303
BATMAN FAMILY 15-20 (Man-Bat, and Batman stories)
DC SPECIAL SERIES 15 (BATMAN SPECTACULAR)
DETECTIVE COMICS 482 ("Batmite" 6 p story, and "The Demon" 15 p story)
HOUSE OF MYSTERY 257 and 259
MISTER MIRACLE 23, 24 and 25
GHOSTS 88 ( 6 p story)
MYSTERY IN SPACE 113 ( 8 p story)
SECRETS OF HAUNTED HOUSE 10 ( 8 p story)

From Jan-Dec 1979, Michael Golden did the first 12 issues of MICRONAUTS, probably his best known work.
Another example of Marvel benefitting immensely from the talent displaced by the DC Implosion.
