WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump’s lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service over his leaked tax returns was filed for an “improper purpose,” a judge said Monday as she referred one of his lawyers for potential disciplinary action and characterized the $10 billion complaint as an exercise in self-dealing.

U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams accused Trump and his lawyers in a scathing ruling of having manipulated the court system when he sued a federal agency under his control, bypassing a requirement that parties in a lawsuit must have adverse interests. The lawsuit ended in a settlement that granted the president immunity from tax audits and established a $1.776 billion fund to compensate Trump allies who believe they have been unjustly persecuted.

The judge stopped short of explicitly voiding the deal shielding Trump from tax scrutiny but said the government cannot claim in official proceedings that the agreement was the result of a legitimate legal process.

“Whether Executive Branch actors can privately agree to give themselves and their former clients blanket immunities and billions of dollars in tax monies for legally undefined grievances was never an issue advanced to this Court,” said Williams, an appointee of President Barack Obama. “The question is whether the Parties could do so by claiming to be adverse and engaging the legitimacy of a court proceeding. The answer is a resounding ‘no.’”

The ruling comes just ahead of a key confirmation hearing
Though the practical impacts of the ruling may be limited since the lawsuit was voluntarily dismissed months ago and the administration has already abandoned the $1.776 billion “Anti-Weaponization Fund” that came out of it, the order nonetheless amounts to a scathing rebuke and tees up a politically uncomfortable line of questioning for Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche as he faces the Senate Judiciary Committee for his confirmation hearing on Wednesday.

“The nature of the suit itself and the conduct of the Parties and counsel from its filing make plain that this was an attempt to use the Court to provide some legitimacy to an agreement to confer immunity to people and entities affiliated with the President and to earmark billions of dollars from American taxpayers to redress grievances not defined in the law,” Williams wrote in her ruling.

She added: “Ensuring that our courts are used only for the express purpose created by the Constitution is the obligation of every judge and an obligation that this Court must discharge in light of the matter before it.”
The $10 billion suit against the IRS and Treasury Department in January accused the agencies of a failure to prevent a leak of the president’s tax information to news outlets between 2018 and 2020.

In May, however, the administration announced that it was settling the case and creating a fund to compensate people who believe they’ve been mistreated by the criminal justice system. The fund was quickly shelved amid bipartisan backlash, though the Trump administration has said it intends to proceed with a separate element of the deal affording Trump and family members protection from tax audits.

From the start, the judge had appeared skeptical of the complaint and assigned a group of attorneys to determine whether there was a conflict in the case since, as sitting president, Trump was suing “entities whose decisions are subject to his direction.”

The interesting thing about this case for me was that the judge was going to let the lawyers shut the case down by giving up on the fund. But the judge was petitioned in some sort of amicus brief filed by a group of retired judges to re-open the case and make a ruling.

Retired judges intervening in the court's processes! Fuck me, that would never happen here.

Pimping my site, again.

The judge could have ignored it but I think the retired judges had a very good point. As it is now the Trump family just had their dad’s doj make it illegal for the irs to audit them. That to me is so corrupt! And something that needs to be undone at the first opportunity!

Uh.... the case was about Democrat partisans. in the IRS releasing Donald Trump's personal (and private) IRS tax information to liberal media sources, for clear purposes of damaging Trump politically in a presidential election.

Trump was suing for $10 billion dollars, and was willing to accept a settlement of $1,776 billion, that Trump set aside, not for himself, but as a legal fund for the 1,500 or so people who were maliciously arrested and prosecuted by FBI and DOJ, so they can pursue compensation for their unlawful detention without evidence or trial, that caused them to lose their jobs and businesses, to have their homes foreclosed, to be beaten in their cells by leftist Trump-hating guards, to purposely be tormented in jail cells with foul-smelling plumbing and toilets that did not flush for months, and many to be further tortured WITHOUT EVIDENCE, WITHOUT DUE PROCESS, WITHOUT TRIAL, with lengthy solitary confinement, separation from their wives and children for up to 4 years, to be denied medication that allowed treated cancer previously in remission to grow back, on and on. And 5 of them driven to suicide.

Also interesting is the selective omission above of the fact this was a Barack Obama-appointed judge.
Hey, no Democrat agenda, none whasoever. rolleyes

This Federal Judge Just Destroyed Trump's Settlement With the IRS

Isn't it INTERESTING, how many times, during each of Trump's two terms, legislation by Democrat-appointed activist judges has stalled or obstructed the implementation of groundbreaking Trump policy done to secure the United States, and to vindicate and protect U.S. citizens.

And in this case, it wasn't even a verdict, it was an iRS settlement, that isn't subject to appeal or reversal, because it isn't a prosecution.

And while Trump has endured over a billion dollars in legal fees and financial damages awarded by rigged judges, juries and courts, Trump stepped away from all that money, and left it to the families of the 1,500 innocent people arrested in over-the-top 6 AM armed FBI raids. Maybe 60 of those 1,500 arrested actually did anything wrong. So Trump set aside a fund for them to seek legal compensation, and now even that is being taken away.
There are many segments of the U.S. legal system that are a DEMOCRAT legal system, as opposed to an ACTUAL legal system where the impartial rule of law still exists.

Former police officer Derek Chauvin is another example of a rigged trial, by a corrupt politically motivated Democrat judge and jury, selectively omitting exculpatory evidence, and he should be released.
And because Democrats in the system don't want Chauvin released, there have been OVER TWENTY stabbing attempts to kill Chauvin in prison, one of them by an FBI informant (from a 97% Democrat-donating FBI, remember?)

Just ask Rudy Giuliani, after the New York Bar Association took away his law license for several years, just for defending Trump in his impeachment trial, and for pursuing Trump's lawful legal dispute of the rigged 2020 presidential election, along with about 25 other Trump lawyers, who were likewise dragged through the federal justice system, just for defending Trump as a client.
That is weaponizing government against political enemies of the Democrat-Bolshevik party, and further intimidating millions of other people, including intimidating LAWYERS from defending Trump or other Democrat opponents in the future.

Alan Deshowitz and Jonathan Turley both said the trial cases of Trump are the most biased they have ever witnessed, and should be reversed on appeal for their obscene bias. But don't expect them to be overturned at the circuit courtlevel, or state supreme court level, such is the known Democrat bias in the New York state judicial system.
So Turley and Dershowitz don't expect Trump to be exonerated until it reaches the U.S. Supreme Court level.

You do know that everyone here knows that Trump and his family’s fortunes have skyrocketed by billions and billions since he was reelected? It’s a corrupt pay to play administration full of staff loyal not to the American people but to Trump. This deal was between Trump and the people he chose that would be loyal to him. The judge is just calling it what it is. Hopefully things turn around in the midterms and Trump and his family actually have to deal with a Congress that will do its oversight responsibilities again and the damage that has been caused can begin to be repaired.

Trump's vast expansion of his wealth by billions occurred when he opened a public stock offering selling shares of his Truth Social company. It was a precisely the time he was being charged over 800 million in legal fines that offering gave him about $7 billion in new wealth.

All the other shit garbage you allege about Trump's supposed "pay to play" is just so much wind, with no lucid facts that I've observed to back it up.
And that's what the media has been doing over and over for 10 years. They allege something about Trump, then are absolutely proven wrong.
And being a Democrat-Bolshevik means never having to say you're sorry.

Occasionally the foaming-at-the-mouth Trump-hating reporters are quietly demoted or fired for embarrassing their network or newspaper by obviously not confirming their facts or sources before running their stories, in their desperation to run a story they are sure will be the magic silver bullet that destroys Trump.
But usually there is no penalty for their false reporting.
They think it is their holy mission to destroy Trump and the Republican party. And equally holy mission to fly cover for the Democrats, suppressing news that reflects badly on the Democrats.
"Objective reporting" rolleyes

You worship propagandists like Scott Pelli, Lester Holt, George Stephanopoulos, Kirsten Welker and Kaitlan Collins.
And you slander and demonize actual old-school objective investigative journalists like Sharyl Attkisson, John Stossel, John Solomon, Lara Logan, Glenn Greewald, and Bernard Goldberg. Despite the overwhelming facts in front of you, that I've cited over and over.

And because you didn't seem to get the message of the bias of your sources, here again, deconstructed by an award-winning 40-year reporter for some of the best known news networks over those 4 decades, Sharyl Atkisson explaining it to you, because you apparently STILL can't seem to grasp how biased and laughably wrong some of the sources you cite actually are:

Slanted Journalism and the 2020 Election - Sharyl Attkisson

She's a four-decade top of her field award winning investigative journalist, YOU are not.
And has written several books on the rise of activist journalism, and the simultaneous decline of objective investigative reporting, and the loss of journalism ethics.

She factually proves the inaccuracy and bias in the sourced articles she cites.

Apparently a conservative owned company that has forced its newsrooms to run pro Trump pieces is not a problem for Sheryl. Her output since moving to Sinclair proves my point. She did have a reputation decades ago but traded it in for an audience that would turn on her if she actually did her job. She’s a safe space for Trump these days.

And Trump raking in billions and billions in less than 2 years since he became president isn’t just due to him selling shares. And even that is tied into the old fraud becoming president. Selling access has been very profitable for him. Committed massive fraud at tax payers expense, not a problem if you ante up for a pardon.
