I don’t see how it doesn’t add to the already immense debt that Trump has racked up already.
Mexico is paying for the big, beautiful wall.
Mexico IS paying for the wall. Trump basically threatened to close the border (in both his first and second terms, both times that Trump secured the border), and suddenly Mexico became REAL COOPERATIVE in securing and patrolling their side of the border and stopping illegal immigration. They know if they don't cooperate, Mexico will cease to have trade, and profits, from the U.S.
Another way to insure Mexico's cooperation:
The largest source of revenue in Mexico is their oil industry.
The second largest source of income in Mexico is wire transfers of cash (i.e., remittances) from U.S. Mexicans, to family members in Mexico. If Trump were to cut off those wire transfers, that would instantly de-stabilize Mexico, and bring that government to its knees.
Mexico is very aware of this, and they are definitely cooperating as a result. Mexico may not literally be building the wall for us, but they are paying in other ways, with additional Mexican troops and patrols on their side of the border. So Mexico IS paying for border security.
