Trump has actually done what you accused Obama of wanting to do WB. The difference is we could agree that Obama was wrong by planning on trying to exclude Fox to an event. Trump excludes multiple networks not just once but multiple times. Unlike with Obama the courts had to intervene and force Trump to the right thing. You don’t have ethics WB. You have party loyalty instead.
I don't believe Trump ever planned to permanently exclude CNN and Politico from all White House Press Corps events.
I think it was always Trump's intent to make a headline for a week or so of the gesture to exclude CNN and Politico for bad and unethical behavior. Trump is too intelligent to NOT know they would be permitted back in the White House, even if he really tried to do it permanently.
Trump did it only to draw headlines and national attention to CNN and Politico's bad/slanted journalism, unethical behavior, and resultant low ratings, national attention that could only have further hurt their ratings and reputations.
As opposed to Barack Obama, who ACTUALLY DID try to
permanently exclude Fox News (and only other news agencies' refusal to participate in future White House press conferences if he did, made Obama back down and let Fox back in.)
And that Biden as president further tried to exclude One America News (OAN), and Newsmax.
In OAN's case, they have been permanently marginalized and close to completely de-platformed OAN, for years now.
And not for the lack of trying, Newsmax had too much support from cable subscribers for Direct TV and other cable services not to eventually give in to the demands of their subscribers, and le Newsmax back on, after removing Newsmax from Direct TV for 4 months or so in 2023.
I for one called Direct TV and said I would cancel, if they continued to ban Newsmax, and I was one of tens of thousands.
** NOTE: That is every conservative mainstream news service Democrats tried to shut down and de-platform (Fox, OAN and Newsmax).
And only part of MANY YEARS of the entire Democrat/Left's publicly voiced strategy to cut off and de-platform ALL conservative television news networks. All the people who plotted this "de-platforming" of conservative news (in Soros-funded Leftist think-tanks) were hired by Joe Biden's FCC to do exactly that, to OAN and Newsmax.
And Fox News, thanks to Lachlan Murdoch, RINO Paul Ryan, and other untrustworthy Fox executives, is drifting in a RINO/Leftist direction. And no doubt intimidation is also part of Fox's drift away from conservatism.
And since 2019, the Democrat/Left has pretty much made every conservative publication virtually invisible on Google and other internet search engines. They are starving conservative publications like National Review, Breitbart, American Conservative, Daily Caller, and Human Events, of advertising revenue. I've seen several of their editors interviewed say up till 2019, they'd get about 50,000 hits to their sites generated from Google searches, but now filtered out by censoring leftist algorithms, that number coming from search engines has gone to zero. Silenced. Marginalized.
Trump only temporarily excluded a few bad actors at CNN and Poliico for dishonest and unethical behavior.
For Trump it was a brief bit of theatrics, not a long-term plan to exclude all Democrat/Left news media.

Trump only wanted CNN and Politico to abandon their unethical behavior, before being given full access to the president again .
