I work with a Gen Z kid and she’s mostly useful. She likes to say “I’m just a girl!”, or “I don’t know I’m new!” even though she’s very much not, says ahh instead of ass, everything is based, “bet” instead of sure or ok, etc. The shit that’s really getting under my skin is the little girl shit she keeps doing. It started with her printing out pictures of kittens and putting them on a wall in the server room and our office door, and my boss told her to stop but he won’t take them down because he doesn’t want to make her upset (which is its whole other issue - she like to make herself a victim).

Then she started changing all my server admin desktop themes to pastel pinks, purples, and blues. I’ve changed them back to generic default and asked her stop because it’s an eye sore but she just giggles and does it again because she says “it’s cute”.

Not to mention she texts.

A lot.

Multiple texts. And Teams chats.

In a row.

For everything! Things she could ask with her voice because we’re in the same room or find out herself from Google.

Or live updates on her tickets that we just do not need to be involved in.

The final straw was this afternoon when she started giggling like a fucking moron. I didn’t engage because I figured she was fucking up something else to be cutesy and girly when she says “did you know you could put emoji’s on the calendar?!”

My dudes, she went through our department calendar and added emoji’s to every god damn entry for the next few months. We don’t care about what you do with your personal space and your own desktop, but we try to maintain the outward appearance of professionalism. But with kittens and pastels and emoji’s all over somebody needs to tell this child kindergarten is over.

And oh my god, the emotional support objects that have to go everywhere with her! even if she needs to carry equipment!
