Perhaps it's the figure 8 theory.
You know... 2 parallel dimensions that are thrown off being parallel because of Arnold's accent...
Then they collide and cross, creating alternate futures (and pasts) instead of just one rock in the pool, 2 rocks, multiple ripples.
Then, because of the planar shift (again, probably the accent) they turn away from eachother and loop back to a spot before figure 8's were in style...

Inflatable breasts are a much better invention then the time device...

I was taking your cyclical theory and adding a parallel dimension (and accents)
