Saw a bit of it at the San Diego Comic Con, looked great. I saw one fight scene that made me literally gasp, which rarely happens.

I'm still tentative, though, if only because it will be extremely difficult to follow up the first one.

i heard that there's gonna be an insane car chase scene in this movie.

on a side note:

i saw lord of the rings a couple days ago and everytime the guy who plays agent smith came on the screen, i couldn't help but laugh cuz i thought of:

Hello......Mister...Anderson.

Seeing Hugo Weaving and thinking of The Matrix is better than seeing Hugo Weaving and thinking of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert.

Too good infact, because, like others, I couldn't help but see Agent Smith instead of Lord Elrond, he was too memorable as Agent Smith.

The cold hard facts

Reloaded
The machines learn the location of Zion and plan a devastating attack to destroy the humans' last city.

A new character called the Keymaster holds the knowledge of all access points within The Matrix.

The Keymaster is guarded by the Twins.

After rescuing the Keymaster, Trinity and Morpheus must take him to a hardline so he can be removed from The Matrix... but first they must elude Agents hopping from driver to driver on a crowded freeway.

The brawl between Neo and 100 duplicates of Agent Smith has been confirmed. The reporter for Newsweek was shown this portion of the film in its rough form.

The city in the Matrix is revealed to be a mega-city approximately ten times the size of New York City (which is 7 million people.)

Not all of the machines are "evil", and there are at least two factions jockeying for control over the Matrix world.

Reloaded ends on a mega cliffhanger.

Revolutions
Whereas the majority of action in Reloaded takes place within the Matrix, Revolutions takes place almost entirely in the real world.

Newsweek describes Revolutions as "essentially, from start to finish, one all-out war between the humans and the machines."

Producer Joel Silver said there is one 17-minute sequence in Revolutions that cost two-thirds of the budget of the original Matrix picture (which cost $65 million.)

Laurence Fishburne, who reprises the role of Morpheus in the upcoming two Matrix sequels, told SCI FI Wire that the two movies won't be like other sequels. "It's not like a regular sequel," Fishburne said in an interview. "These things are huge, and there's more characters [and] more people."

Fishburne added that he appreciated the chance to play an ambiguous character. "My overall experience was that it was wonderful," he said. "I'm eternally grateful to be a part of The Matrix. It's this huge juggernaut of a thing. It's the Star Wars of its time. I get to be Obi-Wan and f-cking Darth Vader all at the same time. When you meet Morpheus, I don't know about you, but when I saw Morpheus in the movie, I wasn't taking no f-cking red-pill, blue-pill sh-t. I wasn't drinking the water. I was like, 'DON'T TRUST HIM!' He's not all good; he's not all bad. He's not like the white knight or the black knight. He's a combination, and therefore he is a real being."

The first sequel, The Matrix Reloaded, opens May 15. The next film, The Matrix Revolutions, opens Nov. 7.

**********SPOILERS**********
quote:
April 30, 2003 - Warner Bros. has recently released some awesome new production stills from the The Matrix Reloaded! The studio has also published the film's full production notes which contain a more detailed plot and a number of tantalizing news nuggets.

The official summary reads, "In the sequel, Neo assumes greater command of his extraordinary powers as Zion falls under siege to the Machine Army. Only a matter of hours separates the last human enclave on Earth from 250,000 Sentinels programmed to destroy mankind. But the citizens of Zion, emboldened by Morpheus' conviction that the One will fulfill the Oracle's Prophecy and end the war with the Machines, rest all manner of hope and expectation on Neo, who finds himself stalled by disturbing visions as he searches for a course of action.

"Strengthened by their love for each other and their belief in themselves, Neo and Trinity choose to return to the Matrix with Morpheus and unleash their arsenal of extraordinary skills and weaponry against the systematic forces of repression and exploitation. But there exist powerful figures within the Matrix who refute the artifice of choice, evading the responsibility it brings as they feed on the emotional truths of others.

"Meanwhile, there are exiles like Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving) whose inexorable connection to Neo compels him to disobey the system that has called for his deletion. Driven by the humanity he once despised, Smith will consume everything in his path on his quest for revenge.

"On his treacherous journey toward further insight into the construct of the Matrix and his pivotal role in the fate of mankind, Neo will confront greater resistance, an even greater truth and a more impossible choice than he ever imagined.

"At the confluence of love and truth, faith and knowledge, purpose and reason, Neo must follow the course he has chosen. 'What if I can't?' he asks. 'What if I fail?'"

saw reloaded tonight.

short review: sweet fighting scenes, otherwise x-men2 was better. movie seemed annoyingly like a "to be continued" sitcom, where nothing is really accomplished, and you know there's not enough time to happily wrap things up at the end.

longer review tomorrow

Just saw it.

Got a little bit bored in the beginning. Zion looks like a big prison (symbolic, I know) -- very depressing but sci-fi cool at the same time. The movie picks up a lot with the Merovingian (sp?) scene and afterwards with the freeway. Very sweet.

The Agent Smith subplot I found unsatisfying, and the ending doesn't really "end" but leads into the third of the trilogy. At least the first movie could be enjoyed on its own -- this one leaves too many questions hanging in the air.

There were a lot of great scenes. A lot of them. Unfortunately while they worked on their own, they didn't always seem like they were part of a greater whole. Some of the scenes weren't so great (such as the Zion "church-meeting" and Janet Reno's Dance-Party afterwards [yuh huh] ) -- I mean, they were visually exciting and all, but they seemed very gratuitous.

All-in-all, The Time Trust gives the movie a reluctant thumbs up, but deducts marks for lack of cohesion.

ok. longer review.

the biggest flaw of reloaded was just as ttt said; the movie couldn't stand on its own. matrix 1 was better for many reasons, but mostly because it was a movie! it had a story, all be it a confusing one, that began and ended, all on its own. there was a plot and obvious progression within the plot.

matrix 2 simply played as a bridge between 1 and 3.

it picked up at some point after the first and just seemed to cover some "mid ground" while setting up the third movie. reloaded probably could have been cut up and divied between the first and final in the series (which would cost them a few hundred mil in profits. one of many reasons no one listens to me).

the special effects were really cool, but simply not as "WHOA" as the first movie. the cgi fights were incredible, the multiple smiths, the "robotech" armor, the zion fortress... all looked very sweet. but it cant compare to the first time you saw the "3d rotating camera" effect in the original. similarly, the music featured in reloaded was good, but not as intense as the first.

the saving grace of the flick (the overpowering saving grace) is the excellent action sequences. chase scenes, fight scenes, break in scenes... all very hot.

neo vs 1,000 smiths (or "mr andersons" as i call'em) was really very sweet. tho part is featured on the commercial, the whole fight scene is quite a few minutes long, and very entertaining. many :woo:s were heard thru-out the audience.

really, tho it might not seem like it from my above critique, there's not much to dislike about matrix: reloaded. its a really fun movie with really memorable scenes, and certainly worth the cost of the movie to see it on the big screen.

but when comparing it to the original, y'cant help but feel let down.
