You gotta admit the New Hawkman origin is a lot more streamlined and mystically cool than that whole Hawkworld Rebirth Shemozzle a decade or so back (which wasn't actually a bad read on it's own merits - Tim Truman) which seems to be the prime influence for ol' Warhawk. And as far as updating an old character goes. Guy with wings and a club. Flies around and whacks people. That's Timeless. You don't gotta put metal spikes on that.
