good point.

again, i think zauriel was a great way to update a character, and yet involve a lot of the hawkman appeal (good scenes in a few jla issues, where aquaman actually referred to zauriel as hawkman).

however, i can understand where zauriel wouldnt be hawkman "enough" for the more traditional fans.

but, i do NOT see any reason why the traditional ways of a character cant be updated more to suit a wider audience. yes, i feel that everyone should have a favorite character, and, perhaps bringing hawkman back is a great way to appease long time fans... however... i think dc is alienating a whole new generation of fans, by not updating the character.

my tried and true example of green arrow, i think, works the best. the character still has every bit the appeal that older fans enjoy, and yet, made every effort (successfully) to encorporate new fans, which ensures not only the books success, but ensures that the character will stick around for sometime, as he now has the fondness of a newer generation.
