Does DC get mad when people post Marvel topics on the dcmb?Does DC say anything to you about it? I wonder if Marvel would let people post DC topics on their message boards if they the had a message board?
The thing is though,Marvel's boards were decent & they had a lot of creator input(whether Marvel encouraged them too or not,I don't know).I think Marvel copped out by not putting the boards back up.
the main reason behind the boards closing was cost, no doubt.
im sure any company would loooove to have a message board runnin (modelled after the beautiful dcmbs, natch). but... they're frickin expensive. not so much the program, but the bandwith the program brings.
message boards bring web traffic and web traffic brings huge bills -- in an average week, the dcmbs are visited, oh, say 500,000 times. dc pays a hefty several thousand bucks per month to keep the forums active.

So then it IS true DC was jealous of the creativity of the NBs on OPPT and feared they'd stop reading comics and see us at OPPT instead of buying their product!
I think Rob means they pay him several thousand dollars a month to run the DCMB's! The real reason we pay such ridiculous prices for the Spectre and Suicide Squad is because of Kamphausen's inflated paycheck! I say we get our money's worth and take it out of Robbie's butt!
to be honest, dc really only keeps it goin cuz of aol's piggy bank. unless marvel figures out a way to make the boards profitable (member access or something) then there's really not muchuva point fer'em.
