....dont remember the issue but it was one of the best damn Daredevil comics ever....anyone remember the storyline with the nut who painted his face red white and blue?

Nuke! I just read that storyline recently after finding a copy of the Daredevil: Born Again TPB for $4.50 at a used book store.
It's Frank Miller at his gritty best--Karen Page sells Daredevil's secret identity to the Kingpin for a hit of heroin, and Kingpin proceeds to ruin Matt Murdock's life. He loses his girl, gets disbarred, his apartment is blown up, and he is pushed damn close to insanity. Meanwhile, Daily Bugle investigative reporter Ben Urich is also given a chance to be heroic on Matt's behalf.
In the end, Kingpin calls in the crazed super-soldier Nuke to assassinate him, but Captain America gets involved and the they team up to take the crazy fucker down. Nuke is pumped up with drugs and is convinced he's still in Vietnam saving "our boys." He is a formidable foe, and this story really spotlights how truly evil and powerful the Kingpin is.
This storyline is the best Daredevil story I've ever read, followed closely by Miller's retelling of the origin story, "The Man Without Fear." (The latter would have been perfect to base the movie screenplay on, but I have a feeling they didn't.)

I'm still not sure if the aids diagnosis from Kevin Smith's run was true or not, it could have been Mysterio just screwing with Matt's life some more....although it really doesn't matter now, does it?

It's nice to know that Franta pays attention to his comic reading. I always thought he just looked at the pretty pictures! That was a great Daredevil run and remember getting excited about the book again as I had with Miller's run.
