this month's top, in order:
10) batgirl
9) gotham knights
8) jsa
7) green arrow
6) jla
5) catwoman
4) gotham adventures
3) gotham central
2) detective
1) batman
obviously im skewed in a batman-direction.
green arrow is a weird choice, as thats never a book id have guessed id be into one day. the same could be said of jsa. or even jla (i never much cared for the "second stringers").
for a long while, detective was at the top of the heap, because rucka's stories were frickin fantastic. he's still my favorite regular writer on a batbook. martinborough's pencil's and the unique coloring style were equally cool.
currently, batman has taken sole control of the top. most importantly are lee's pencils -- i've never seen batman look so cool. batman, alfred, catwoman, etc -- i've never seen any of them look so cool. he's simply a masterful artist and really has a great handle on the book.
just opening the title is cool, from lee's crisp art, to the smooth colors, to the slick, shiny paper that comics all but forgot about a few years ago.
above and beyond it all is one of the industry's top writers, determined to get me to stick around. batman's interactions with catwoman, alone, have been phenomenal.
great book.
