Hi Robsteroni,

I agree, Dale was perfect on Batman! Dark art and swirling capes... COOL! Actually, he's about to do a commission piece with Batman and Wolverine fighting. How awesome is THAT gonna be, huh?! [whaaaa!]

Hi guys!

Well, since we all agree that Dale rawks, here's a link to a newsarama article that talks partly about him.

Enjoy!

Hi Rob!

Yep, I've been to the CG offices twice. I even borrowed one of their computers to do some translation one day when I was visiting Dale back in February. I can't compare with other companies, 'cause i've never been to Marvel or DC (neither has Dale!), but I found the CG concept really neat. It's all one big room, with all the creative staff right there. It's all dark and moody! Very neat, although some might find it a bit loud -- which is why lots of the creators wear a walkman!

My overall impression was that this company is very forward-thinking, very creative, and definitely going places!

Especially now that Dale is there... [wink]

i've heard really cool things about CG offices. i dunno that much about the company, but when it was first getting started, i heard all sorts about how the owner was, like, a ted turner kinda rich guy, who really loved comics and just wanted to spend whatever it took to get his own comic company. he set up a great environment with the ideal ___ whatever (lighting, pencils, studios, etc), and used all that to get the great talent.

sounds like a pretty cool shpeal to me :)

i cant speak for marvel, but the best way to describe the dc offices:

imagine a standard office building, with a big room -- all the cubicles on the inside, the offices lining the outside walls, yadda yadda. every door has a name tag and there's a local copier and office station, etc. now imagine some saturday where the office owner let 1,000 kids run around and decorate the place themselves. painted on the walls, put up every super hero poster they could find, left their toys out on the shelves, put big cardboard cut outs of superman and stuff on the ceiling, etc. even the door name tags are shaped like comic book word bubbles. very fun place.

I get Forge and Edge/Vector..so I'll get the new issues about 3 months after they come out. I'm glad Scott Eaton is leaving Crossgen as I think he and Paul Pelletier have similar thick styles. Seemed redundant to have 2 similar artists..I prefer Paul and to now have Dale is a great thing, and it's also good for Crossgen to get talented artists whose styles differ from the artsist they already have to give a unique vision to each series. I thought Sigil and Negation had too similar of art styles to enjoy completely (if that makes nay sense?)...

This is great...

Glad ya liked it.It's G'Nort inspired. Good to hear you're getting all settled in down in Florida.Tons of fun to be havin' down there....hurricanes,alligators,swampland dancin'.....Kermit the Frog playin' the banjo & singing about Rainbows.Who could ask for anything more?? [biiiig grin] (I make these jokes because I'm from Florida)Ask Dale if he'll be able to sneak G'Nort in Sigil...or maybe Mark Alessi could purchase the rights to G'Nort from DC & Dale can do the G'Nort monthly at CG...that would be awesome.

Hi Allan!

We're not settled down yet, we're only moving in June! We're going to look for a house next week -- wish us luck!

As for G'Nort, I don't think there's much chance of seeing him in Sigil. The book has its own G'Nort, though, so maybe you can adopt him. His name is Trouble, and he's a pseudosaur (like a live toy mini dinosaur). Very cute, like G'Nort, and there's a fringe group of people asking for his return, like G'Nort. He's tailor-made for you! [biiiig grin]

But if it's only the doggie you want, you can always try asking Rick Burchett, if ever he comes by the MBs. He may be open to continuing the cameo tradition! Who knows?

Take care,

Wolfie

Thanks allan1! I'm glad you liked them. When I drew the last few issues, I had no idea they would be my last. I was working harder than ever, building up to a run at the top ten in 2003. It's all I dreamed about for Green Lantern. Sound outlandish, or unrealistic? Hah!! What's the fun if you never put your reputation on the line in front of the fans? Green Lantern deserves to be up there. GL's fate is in in Ricks hands now!! I think Rick'll do great on the book.

Later... Dale.

Rob,

It is a cool place. Imagine bumping into Butch Guice, Bart Sears or anyone of those guys at the photocopy machine and talking comics. Lot's of the artists will stop by while you're making copies to look at your work and talk about it. It's great.

Mark Alessi is just a super guy. He often comes onto the floor where all us creators are assembled and he takes time out of his incredibly busy schedule to visit with every single person there, offering great words of encouragement and advice. It's a pretty unique set up. We have everything we need to be the best we can be. It's amazing!!!

Hey Pig Iron,

My Sigil is definitely different than Scott's. It's too bad Scott couldn't stay at CG. He's very talented and well liked there. I hope he does great at Marvel or DC, or where ever he ends up!!

Hey Rob,

They do in fact do tours. A group of graphics students went through the place when I was there last. Greg land gave them a little speach about what he does there as a penciler and then they moved on to another quad (Greg was in my quad).

The commission art: Sounds great! I'd love to post it here. Thanx Rob. I love drawing Batman. I'll probably never work on a bat book again, so the commissions are all I got. I intend to have a lot of fun doing it.

Later.... Dale.

Hey Dave,

I don't think there's a lot of room at CrossGen right now. Besides, Rob would have to move to Tampa. Is that even an option to you, Rob?

that'd absolutely rock!

you could scan'em and email'em to me (or mail me a hard/photo copy that i could scan) and ill upload'em to my server and post'em for ya.

id pop the pic/s up in their own threads on a weekly basis, and list it as a thread headline. then, ill attract hordes upon hordes of internet nerdlings, all dying to see new and never-before-seen eaglesham art -- covered, almost entirely, of course, with various robkamphausen.com trademarks and copyrights, approved by dave our lawyer.

or something -- ok, maybe just the first parts [wink]

seriously, that'd be cool as hell. just lemme know whenever!

Hi Rob!

Glad you liked the preview! Hey, folks have been talking about the revamping of the DCMBs. Do you know when this is supposed to happen?

Dale hasn't had any time to work on that Batman pinup yet, but he's got the preliminary sketches done, and it's going to be absolutely mind-blowing.

So stay tuned! [biiiig grin]

the DCMBs are gonna get some ... treatment, that is true. here's a whole topic on it. in short, the new dcmbs will only loosely resemble whats currently there, for better or worse.

so, yeah.

as far as the pin-up goes -- the more ass kicking the batman pic, the better! take all the time in the world, it'll be worth it!! cant wait to see it [woooOOOOoooo!]
