Sorry for the complete dorkiness of this post but I just wanted to know what people on this board thought about JLA v X-Men over at the DCU Boards the vast majority of posters think the X-Men would be easy beats. Which struck me as crap for the following reasons. Firstly if we are picking team members from any era then the winner is Dark Phoenix! You could throw the JLA, X-Men and Avengers at her at the same time and she wouldn't break a sweat. As for the Flash issue he couldn't go faster then the speed of thought. He is a man and therefore he needs to think himself so in the time he has thought legs run over there one of the telepaths could think turn off his brain. Also if he walks into a room and bang there fighting how could he identify who the telepaths were before any of them sent out the shut him down thought. Batman is just a man. A man with many fighting skills and abilities but people can take him down (Like Karate Kid, Captain America and a few others)so if he had no planning time or specific gadgets he would be in trouble. Wolverine, Shadowcat and Psylock all have extensive martial arts training combined with a mutant ability so one on one any of these guys could keep the bat occupied. Also in the Xavier proticols after studing Wolvies healing factor Xavier concluded to kill him at the very least you would have to behead him and even then Xavier wasn't sure if eventually he might just grow a new head. Cannonball is invulenrable when powered up (And maybe an immortale but in not sure if that is now not the case) also he has taken down Gladiator on his own so surely he could at least keep Supes or MM busy. Rogue on her first apperance took down the Avengers by herself and she has had a lot of training since then. So I dont understand why so many posters are writing the X-Men off as easy beats. But for my money I think X-Men v Legion would be more interesting anyway.

All right. I'll go with you on this. Haven't gotten this fanboy-ish in a while, but....
If you are pulling from ANY of era of the teams, then, Dark Phoenix would have to contest with:
-A man that has utter mastery over the atomic structure of matter (Firestorm)
-A guy that can break the time barrier itself under his own power (Barry Allen, the Silver Age Flash)
-A Man of Steel that can, literally, move entire planets with nothing but raw muscle (Pre-Crisis Superman)
-Earth's most powerful telepath (J'onn, the Manhunter)
...just to name a few.
If we are talking every member of both teams (as you seem to be doing), then, the sheer number of JLA members (see the JLA: Secret File #1 for Jimmenez's double-page splash of the entire roster) would overwhelm the healthy dosage of mutants that have made up Charlie's school over the years.
Telepaths? Xavier's good. So is Jean. Together, they might be able to take out J'onn.
Might.
Wolverine's a bad-ass, no doubt.
But, Superman's a bigger bad-ass.
One toss, straight up, from the 'Man Who Felled Thor', and Logan would find himself sucking void by the time he hit orbit.
The JLA has been made up of six Corp Officers (Hal Jordan, John Stewart, Guy Gardner, Kilowag, G'Nort, and Kyle Rayner). That's SIX different weilders of the most powerful weapon in the civilized universe.
And, then there's Wonder Woman (godess), Zatanna (sorceress), Dr. Fate (sorceror supreme), Captain Marvel (god-avatar), Captain Atom (a living nuclear reactor), and the android Hourman (master of time).
And, then, ALL the rest.
You do the math.
The X-Men are seriously powerful, over all, I agree.
But, there is simply no contest when it comes to the JLA. . . . Wow. Haven't done that in a long time. :)

Zatanna and Firestorm could kick the X-Men's ass all by themselves. Toss in Martian Manhunter and a green lantern and they'd be screwed.

With enough prep time, Batman could take down all the X-men, past and present all by himself. ![[wink]](images/icons/wink.gif)

Yes, but, with enough prep time, could Batman take down himself?

They'd have to know he was there, first. I'm sure his brain working at super speed would also cause a little problem with any telepath who tried to enter his mind.

Here's a question for all you other fanboys.....
If you could pick any character to start a franchise with who would it be? I mean if you're starting your own DC or Marvel who would be the character in "your" first ever comic? Like Action Comics! When Siegel and Shuster came out with Superman. And look how he branched out to Adventures of Superman, and Superman. Not to mention all the other characters and comics that directly spun off of him (Superboy, Supergirl, Steel, etc,) Pick your franchise player and tell us how you'd branch him out, but remember you only get to choose only one character from either DC or Marvel to franchise/spin off into other comics and characters. So who's your franchise character?
