It took us exactly 7 months, but we finally did it!

...well, most of it....Dave's contributions are still yet to be posted. Understandable, given the stuff he's been going through(hospital trips, moving, etc). We(I) can only hope now that Dave's back in Aussie-ville he can finally finish my damn comic strip!

So....any critiques? Suggestions? More interested parties? Anyone can contribute!

Dear BOBO COMICS:

I loved your first issue. Uschi is the next Grant Morrison, Disco Steve is the next Scott McCloud, and Mxy is the next...uh...

Anyway, in Untitled, one of the characters has two heads. Can I have a No-Prize? I wish there had been hookers in my high school like in Four-Color Garbage, and I'm suing over your use of Max Adventure.

I hope I don't have to wait a year for the next issue. Keep up the great work.

Sincerely,
M. Campbell

Well, there is also the laziness to contend with, too.

I liked this first issue. I really liked Uschi's. Was I the only person who noticed that the farting two headed person had different pants? Very Kafka.

I was a bit perturbed that Disco decided to devote his strip to my high school years. The greatest disturbance came from its accuracy. Disco has his fingers on the pulse of teenage angst.

And Mxy's Max Adventure had a talking bird, which was obviously a tribute to Gaiman's Sandman. Nice touch, with some refreshing honesty at the end. Max himself looked like AstroBoy, which I thought was rather cool.

Tribute to Gaiman? Nah, that's how I remember the bird from Birdman. Though that one didn't talk. Max looks like AstroBoy? Cool, I just wanted to make him look gay.

Dear Mr. Campbell,

Yes, a first critique!

You're lying out of your teeth, but thanks for humoring us(I say "us" even though, technically, I didn't contribute at all to this issue)!

But really, thanks for the compliments. I'd like to get another one in a month or two, though that might not be entirely plausible.

I noticed the changing pants thing when Uschi sent it to me, too. I thought that was funny.

Heh, when I read the title of the script Disco sent me, I thought "he's writing about Dave?" He has confessed his love for you before, after all...

I thought Mxy's was a parody of Astroboy when I first saw it.

Animalman, I did give a response in the spirit of what was presented, but please believe me in all seriousness when I say I enjoyed all three stories. I probably enjoyed them more than any of the mainstream monthlies I continue to buy.

Why? Because they have that spark, that will-to-comics, if I can paraphrase Nietzsche. There is no financial objective. Your comics are produced for different reasons -- better reasons.

The RKMBs have an unusually high quotient of this sort of thing. It is indeed my honor, sir, to watch the outpouring of clever and heartfelt ideas couched in toilet humor, all given freely for the simple enjoyment of others.

I belive that came from Niezsche's text, Thus Spake Zarathustra. "The will-to-comics".

And everyone ehre is motivated by the hope that Dan Raspler will sign them up as the new Grant Morrison.

Hmmm. You bring up something that's concerned me for a few days now. I fear that my comic, which is quite serious, and not in any way, shape or form, "toilet humor", won't fit in so well with the other strips.

That's another reason why I'd like to see more people contributing to the webzine!

Yes, the same thing occured to me. My own story is quite serious. I'm thinking about doing something more light-hearted in order to fit the genre of Bobo Comics.

No, don't worry about genre. The only reason why this issue looks too leaned to the comedic side is because there's only three stories.

Hmmm... then I advise doing something with big monsters and anime.

I would like to thank Animalman for giving me the chance to live out my dreams of internet stardom, and to Uschi for giving my life meaning. I would also like to thank Dave for being a good role model for children everywhere and lastly, my eternal gratitude goes out to my father and my mother and most specially, my parents.

Who'd have thought I was a role model?

OK, Neiliencio, you've up'd the ante. I might have to do something vaguely good now.

Then again I might just talk about it some more for 9 months or so.

Wow, we've got color now! A new high in BOBO COMIC history!

Thanks, Neil, that's great. Dave's right, you have definitely up'd the ante.

Can't wait to see CJ's comic. And Dave's(I'll give him one thing, he knows how to build the suspense!).

Dear BOBO COMICS:

Two new features?! All right!

Neilencio, your drawing supports your strengths as a writer. You have crafted some quality work, even in purely commercial terms. I gotta say I preferred the crispness of the black and white rendering with the spot-color effect of the green. I know, I know, the second strip was about the color yellow, but maybe it could have been black, white, green, and yellow.

You know every picky little gripe you ever made to a comic editor? It's all coming back on you threefold, Neilencio.

I find myself in accord with the politics and philosophies expoused in Dakota. Furthermore, as a cat owner, I, too, suspect that much in the way of illegal arms trafficking goes on while my wife and I are away.

The bunny-as-devil was cleverly drawn, Cowgirl Jack, and a nice nod to Dark Ages Europe, which is clearly the historical antecedent for the unseen professor character. And the hat flying off during detonation was a nice touch.

Thank you for the Entertainment.

Sincerely,
M. Campbell

Well what a big pile of fun we have here! Please remember that none of my comments are insults, they are my honest reviews of your work.

Uschi, well, you have great drawing talent, but the story leaves something to be desired. The pacing is really messed up, and there's the whole issue of it not making any sense. In a bad way. [nyah hah]

Mxy, I could barely be bothered to read yours. It's a Captain Underpants remix, through and through.

Neil, I like it. It's really got something going. I agree that black and white would have been more effective for the second strip, with maybe the yellow and green as the only colors. Pacing, again, needs a little work, but it's fun.

Jack, yours is very good. I like that it's a one-time thing, can no room for a sequel. Fast and humorous, so to speak.

Disco... I liked yours the most. Please don't take any sort of a more-comedic (than there already is) edge on this. It's fine as is. I say keep going with this format, experimenting with story styles, and then go all out. This is the kind of stuff is critically acclaimed but the sales lack. All was good, except for the last panel. Seemed out of character, even though said characters had been established two, three panels earlier.

I look forward to Bobo Comics #2. :)

Where's Dave's? I gotta see his for more inspiration seeing as to how he has always been my friendly rival; the salieri to my falco, the squall to my seifer, the hiei to my yuusuuke, the jon benet ramsey's parents to my jon benet ramsey and the thesis to my anti-thesis.

The path you seek is arduous, and the journey long. What, indeed, is the sound of one hand clapping? Release your sense of self, and close your eyes to become one with the cosmos.

For only upon attaining spritual enlightenment can you perceive my works.
