You've got to be kidding me. One of the most creative minds to enter the world of comics is actually doing a "Marvel Elsworld?" A..."What if" story arc?

First book...not wild about it...

Isn't it 1602? Maybe you were gyped and got a knock off comic.

They say it's not an Elseworld story, that it is important to continuity.

It takes place within continuity, yep.

I'm actually looking forward to this. I love Gaiman's work (currently reading Sandman: Vol. 4) and seeing him do something out of the "norm" is exciting and cool. I thought the first issue was pretty neat and can't wait to see where he goes with it.

For what it's worth, I rather enjoyed the first issue...

Is this already on the stands? I remember ordering it a couple of months back, but I have no idea what it is other than that it's written by Neil Gaiman.

In continuity?....abueah!?!? [eh?] How exactly are they making this "in continuity"? All the characters in the main universe existed 400 years ago? Stupid Dogg confused....

Basically, all the events in Marvel history have been moved back 400 years for some reason. I'm sure the miniseries will deal with how that happened.

It came out this week, TTT.

Yes, it's in continuity. The Marvel Universe is coming into existence 400 years early for reasons that are as yet unknown.

It's really simple.

Kuberts on art... I hate the Kuberts (Joe excluded).

The concept, not grabbin' me.

If it turns out to be the next evolution of the comics form, I'll buy the trade paperback in two years, a week after the last issue comes out.

Not a fan of the Kuberts, but the basic premise is intriguing. I think Marvel would have been better off just keeping this an Elseworlds book, rather than make convoluted attempts to tie it into "continuity".

I think it was Gaiman's idea to make it in continuity.
I've only seen Kubert Jr's art online, and it seems OK... how come so many people hate it?

Oddly, most people love it, as the Kuberts are two of the more popular and well known artists in comics. The Kubert that does painted work(like 1602, and Origin) is ok, I mainly dislike the other one, that does Ultimate X-Men.

The funny thing is, I used to like Adam's work better. His earlier stuff like Spirits of Vengeance and Wolverine was pretty decent.

But Andy seems to have improved a lot over the last couple of years, while Adam hasn't.

Ugh. Kubert art. Never liked any of it. Too sketchy and line-y.

I've always liked Joe's stuff, but his sons are hit-and-miss with me -- some of their stuff I've liked, but some I couldn't care less about.

My personal theory is that this story has something to do with the historical events surrounding the missing colony of Roanoke.

Just a theory.

Wasn't impressed with the first issue. All hype, no pay-off.

Could get better, though.

Hate the art, though. Every face looks the same.

I am waiting for the Hardcover. Bought the first issue and kinda liked it. Am interested in the whole story. Gaiman's stuff reads better that way.
