It's very true. This is usually why I don't get along with other comic fans. They're the competition. Plus (and you all know this guy) there's the one fan who thinks he's fantastic, and he's got a great idea for Cap'n Fillintheblank, but the guy hasn't got an ounce of talent in his pasty, chubby body.

But I've definitely ran into a couple comic fans who've just pretty much almost made me quit trying, they're just that damn good.

I also remember a quote I read from an established comic writer "I don't have fans, I have people who want to replace me."
