I didn't much care for it. About the only part that was interesting was the monkey invasion at the end of the issue. I might pick up the next couple of issues to see how that plays out.

Glanced at it. Raney's come a long way since his Stormwatch days. His Metamorpho looks sweet.

I don't like Winick. His writing is very preachy without any follow through. He goes for cheesy humor politics over developing his characters and stories.Each title he's worked on has been a let down.

My only experience with Winnick is Outsiders and his new Green Arrow stuff, and I think both are fairly good. But everyone hates him, so we'll see how these runs pan out. ![[nyah hah]](images/icons/tongue.gif)

Sorry, I think Winick's work on Exiles has been first-rate from the get-go. I haven't read any of his other work for DC, but I thought Outsiders #1 was fine for an "assembling the troops" issue.

Haven't read Outsiders yet, but I'll probably pick it up for a bit. I noticed on the DCMBs that a lot of folks who hated Graduation Day seemed to like it, which is promising.

Yes, but DCMDers are usually lemmings....
that said it was much better than graduation day..the art may be swaying my opinion though...

I just read the 3rd issue of GRADUATION DAY and the 1st issue of the new OUTSIDERS back-to-back. Gee, same editor, same writer, but 1000% improvement on the art. I recall Tom Raney from WARLOCK (how long ago was that??) and it seems to me the last run of TITANS could have used him.
I read every issue of the last TITANS series, and I kept trying to optimistic throughout, despite inccessant complaints from fans about every single aspect of the the run. Somehow, I didn't get fed up until Barry Kitson arrived-- isn't that odd? As sharp as his art was, the book just feel soullless and lifeless. Plus, from the word "go" I've been getting COMPLETELY sick of this paranoid antisocial bastard they're trying to pass off as Dick Grayson these days. He's almost as bad as the guy who's been impersonating Bruce Wayne since 1986.
That said, I was curious to see how it would be. It's NOT bad. It does seem a definite step up. But I think my patience may be at an end.
Right now I'm wondering what the new TEEN TITANS book will be like.

I liked Outsiders #1 even though I hate Winnick. I loved Tom Raney's art and I liked Nightwing's no nonsense attitude. Now I'm just waiting for Winnick to ruin it all with his "Real World" political garbage.

I usally don't have any problem with Winicks writing, and his Exiles run is great. About the only time he got preachy was the gay bashing issues of GL. I enjoyed the first issue of the Outsiders enough to keep reading for a little while anyway.

The rest of the book was fairly good for a first shot. Art was really nice. Writing seemed better here than in GD, although we are only 1 issue in. I'm reserving judgment on this until I've seen several issues, especially a couple after the end of the stupid Grodd crap.
Teamwise, I like the inclusion of Nightwing, Arsenal, and Grace (even after only one issue, I like Grace!). Thunder and Jade (yet to appear), I'm reserving judgment on until I see how they develop. And I could do without Metamorpho (a little goes a LONG way) and Indigo (I LOVED Nightwings quip, along the lines of "Great! The microwave oven can think!").

I'm not sure why people seem to have a problem with a writer expressing a political or ethical belief through their work.
That's what art is for. For an artist to express what they believe and feel. To leave your political or social leanings out of your script is missing the point of becoming a writer.
And for the reader, even if you disagree with the beliefs in the story, you can still enjoy the read. If only to have something to disagree with. Or make you think.

There's a big difference between a story with a moral/meaning and flat-out preaching. Judd preaches and a lot of his dialogue is pretty cheasy. He writes sex and banter, that's about it.
