OK, it's another Legion topic, so sue me.

Anthoo at the Bristol comicon at the weekend I picked up a few old Legion issues and the two that I really loced were the DC Comics Presents issue with Superman, Ambush Bug and the subs and the Secret Origins one with the Subs again and the bad guy Doctor Light. And they were fabulous. I've heard about the Subs before but nothing quite prepared me for them. Estimate Lad is great, Infectious Lass trying to charm Ambush Bug was fabulous and Fire Lad in the Secret Origins issue is just genius. Oh, as are the Stone Boy/Fire Lad/Chlorophyl Kid scenes from the DCCP issue. he he he.

Couple of questions though. First off why did Polar Boy get rejected? I mean he actually has quite good powers and it's not like they're a bit useless like most of the other subs. And also what exactly are Colour Kids powers? He's the only one I couldn't work out at all.

Color Kid could change the color of things. It never seemed to great a power, but he did save Superboy and Supergirl back in the old days by turning a bunch of green kryptonite into.... whatever color didn't harm real Kryptonians, I can't remember. Maybe blue.

Many years down the road CK's power got a little more useful as he learned to make crazy light shows to disorient people. I think he might've been changing the color of the air or something.

How the hell did that work, anyway? Well, it looked cool back when fancy-shmancy computer coloring was the coming thing.

And I think Polar Boy got rejected for one of the standard reasons like "power too uncontrolled" or the like.

Actually, wasn't Imra the leader when Brek was rejected? I bet she read his mind and saw his intent to give the Legion gals perpetual tittie hard-ons...

...now, THAT's a power!

Don't think Imra was on the panel (at least in the Secret Origins version). I certainly remember Cham being there. And Sun Boy is in it a little later. Hmm, might have to go and check that when i get home. I have a feeling though that the only two people you can see in the issue I got are Cham and Bouncing Boy.

I've been toying with the idea of adding the Subs, along with Elastic Lad, Insect Queen, and White Witch to my collection of Legion figurines. Maybe the Super Pets too. I think it would be a gas to make Elastic Lad all stretched out like in the Composite Superman story.

The problem is Elastic Lad and most of the Subs have such LAME costumes...
