My top 4 are:

1. TRON
2. The Goonies
3. The Lost Boys
4. Desperado (I know, this is technically a sequel, but I want to see Antonio and Salma kick ass ONE MORE TIME)

By stand a lone film, do you mean any film that doesn't have a sequel, or a film that stands alone in the sense that it didn't leave much of an opening for a sequel?

If it's the former, none, because there are enough sequels in the world already and most of the time they're terrible.

If it's the latter, none, because a true "stand alone" film shouldn't have a sequel, it would just ruin the point of it.

I want to see a Sequel to
" The Day the earth Stood Still. "

That was a Fantastic movie, WAY
ahead of it's time.

Anyway, Klaatu never DID come
back to find out what our answer
to his offer was, of joining
the galactic federation of
Peaceful planets or facing
obliteration.

Being obliterated does not
sound like very much fun.

Well there is a video game being made as a sequel to the movie. The main character is the son of the technician who created Tron. The link is on this board somewhere.

I might receive some flack for this, but I've always wanted to see a sequel to either E.T. or The Last Navigator. Granted, I totally understand why they shouldn't be done, but those are two movies that, when I was a child, left me hoping for more.

I don't want another E.T. movie, and neither does Speilberg. That's why I can forgive him for Jurassic Park 2. He did that so Universal would get off his back about an E.T. sequel.

Is that last one The Last Starfighter or Flight of the Navigator?

I wonder how many ever noticed that JURASSIC PARK 2 is almost an exact remake of the Willis O'Brien silent film THE LOST WORLD ??? :)

Actually, it was a huge, concussive brain fart.

It was supposed to be Flight of the Navigator. That'll teach me to post before 3 am.

Considering Speilberg sited it as a major influence and Crichton called the book The Lost World, I don't think it was much of a secret. Speilberg even admitted up front that he went for more action and less plot. He was listening to the advice of 8 year-old kids for Gob's sake.

No way... Seriously??? They're still willing to work with Corey Feldman?

Seriously... No matter how bad he may suck now, Corey Feldman was pretty fucking cool in Goonies, Stand By Me, and The Lost Boys. So much so that they wouldn't be the same without him.

But if I could make a sequel to Goonies, I'd HAVE to use ALL of the original cast. None of them have died, have they? I know Ma Fratelli's dead... And Sloth could POSSIBLY be replaced, if the actor who portrayed him isn't around anymore (hard to tell his age since he was behind layers of make-up)... But I wouldn't make the sequel unless I could get all of them together again. Mikey, Brandon, Mouth, Chunk, Data, Andie, her friend (What's her name? The one with the glasses), and Sloth... I mean, how the hell did Chunk's middle-class suburban American Jewish family adjust to living with a 7'9" 280 lb. monster freak?

God... If only they'd let ME do the sequel... Sigh...

I feel the same way with the Lost Boys. So much potential there... Especially now, with the current state of SFX.

Same can be said for TRON.

I do agree with the people who mentioned Flight of the Navigator and The Last Starfighter.

Ok... Said enough.

Peace, pot, microdot,

If I were to do a sequel, personally... I would take a movie that many people criticize or don't like (something people aren't going to be too pissed off about if I f' with it), and turn them into something completely bizarre. Like, I would do a sequel to Yentl, only Streisand's character turns into Rambo. Or I would take Steel Magnolias and have Julia Roberts' character brought back to life by the government as a cyborg killing machine, and Sally Field and Dolly Parton have to destroy her in order to save everyone.

Not so seriously, I'd do a sequel to Magnolia and make it a slapstick farce about slavery.

Well, one down, three to go. Had no clue Once Upon a Time in Mexico was under production during the time I wrote this.
