One example would be Calorie Queen (not really a legionaire but close enough). She has super-strength.

Hmmm...just talking Legionnaires we've got...

Lightning Lad and Lightning/Light Lass
Duo Damsel (if you call splitting in two a different power than splitting in three)
Invisible Kid I & II
Colossal Boy
Ultra Boy
Star Boy
Bouncing Boy
Sun Boy
Princess Projectra/Sensor Girl
Ferro Lad
Nemesis Kid
Shadow Lass
Timber Wolf
Chemical King
Wildfire
Dawnstar (maybe?)
White Witch
Tellus (did his race have his power of telekinesis?)

Did I miss any other pre-5-year-gap Legionnaires?

And Rokk and Imra, although having powers native to their races, were described as being more powerful or having better control than most other Braalians or Titanians. Same with Reep, at least preboot.

Post-boot Triad would be on the list. Because she has three distinct personalities. Isn't that supposed to be different than the rest of Carggg?

In Lu's "origin" story, told while T-Neutral was in the hospital after the White Triangle beating, apparently her Grandmother also had different personalities when divided. Supposedly, it's frowned upon and seen as a disorder by Caarggite society, but still happens enough that Lu wouldn't be unique. I took it as a metaphor for being gay. Any thoughts?

It did seem to have the same kind of stigma.

Maybe that is why, though I've always been fascinated and liked Lu a bunch, the post-boot version has thrown her OVER THE TOP as a big-time fave of mine.

Yes, Poverty Lad. It's an Excellent metaphor for being Gay.

Being Gay myself, I wonder...will treatment of Gays improve in another 1,000 years? 10,000 years?
1,000,000 Years? What will man have evolved into physically/Emotionally?

My pet theory is that gender is NOT working on this planet. Women are victimized by men sexually on a continous basis - Rape. Men wage wars, seek political office. Our Hormones run our drives.

Remember the Greys? Those little Large eyed aliens that have been seen by us Earthers for the past 50 - Plus years?

They were described as having NO sex organs.

What if they are from Earth's future, a FAR off future where man Actually evolves into a Creature that possesses Facets of Both sexes? There would be No men or women, just one gender.

This being would of course be able to impregnate and Become impregnated.

Of Course, this is Only Speculation .

Just like that Show on the Discovery Channel toady, that showed us how animal life might evolve millions of years from now.

Of course it is an alien concept, at this juncture in our evolution. We like our genders. We like being different. But it IS something to contemplate.

That's deep, Scruffy-- you're harshin' my buzz with reality, man...

Sometimes, I'd like to be like FRY on Futurama and get locked in a cryogenic chamber for 1000 years so I can find out what happens...

I would add Brainiac 5 to Nightcrawler's list, since he's smarter than your average Coluan bear by two notches.

The Triad as gay metaphor is interesting, I didn't read it like that but it makes good sense. Her story could represent anybody or any group that has to suppress their personality/emotions/being because of social constraints.

I sure hope that Earth - and whatever other planets may be populated - will indeed grow out of our more stupid, useless, counterproductive and tragic behaviour of racism, gay-bashing, religious zealotry, child abuse, etc etc.

We've had racism in the 30th-31st century DCU - I suppose it's reasonable to expect that some societies will be more evolved than others.

I've liked the personality of R.J. Brande because he has been depicted as a person who sees beyond the petty squabbling - this was especially well portrayed by TMK, but we also get this sense of his beliefs in the current series: a visionary who embraces new people & ideas. He was the one who helped rescue Lu and saw - and appreciated - her true worth.
