DC Heroclix previews

Yay, I have an excuse to collect the new set :)

I might be the denses person in the world but I know basically nothing about heroclicks. They look like cake toppers or pieces of plastic crap. But I do realise they are game peices. So is the game itself any good? or do people mostly buy the peices for collecting? and by the sounds of it you can't tell whats in your box. Also why are they on top of that clear plastic bit?

I don't know much about Heroclix either - but it's interesting that they've released one of a guy who's supposed to be dead. Not that the game necessarily conforms to the book - maybe Livewire will return, however.

Heroclix is a game played on maps with little 1 inch by 1 inch squares..the maps have grass , trees , buildings, etc... Think of it as a more complex version of chess..where every character and level of that character have superpowers, no powers, movement - range, etc...there are about 60-75 different powers... some charcters can only move on the ground or hav eto be carried, others can leap/climb...some have ranged attacks and some only close combat..some can move and attck in the same turn..some can't...
there are also team abilities that can enhance certain clix even more..like legion or jla abilities...
There are 3 levels to every character except uniques..there are rookie/experienced/veteran..
Players create teams of their own choosing and base their team on 100,200, 300 or other point value teams... rookie livewire might cost 62 points but his veteran might cost 84..the veteran has more life and harder hitting powers or maybe even some additional ones...
The clear plastic stand that livewire is on is a flight base..he is a flying charcter so he gets to fly over objects unlike say, batman... flying charcters can also carry non-flying characters..
Players must roll dice when attacking another charcter and also to make some powers successful..
the number of movement per turn depend on how many points your game is and team abilities..

there are many more rules but that's a starter..

I love playing the game and I love collecting them and doing repaints so I can have any character or any costume I want...

For instance..I've l aready made Hal jordan, arisia and sentinel clix..so all I have to do is put him on GL base when I get some extra john stewart green lantern clix and walla I have
a cool variant of the same charcter who's powers don't break any tournement rules..
