SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A 50-year-old Utah man who found an extra half-million dollars in his bank account is behind bars for spending nearly half of it.

Ogden police say a Denver title company using a wrong set of numbers mistakenly wired the money to the man's account July First.

Ogden's Wells Fargo Bank froze the account a week after the transaction. But the suspect had allegedly already spent $116,000 on three vehicles, and another $114,000 on other items.

Federal and state agents and Ogden police tracked the man down at a Salt Lake City address after rummaging through garbage cans at his Ogden residence.

Authorities seized the vehicles.

The suspect faces charges of felony theft.
