Conceptually, it was brilliant. The feudal age samurai really is the eastern hemisphere's equivalent of the wild west gunman(or vice versa, chronologically). It's why Asian culture has always been so fascinated by the cowboy and the legends surrounding them(as reflected by popular anime like Cowboy Bebop and Trigun), just as Americans are fascinated by the samurai.

As a cast, M7 also did a fantastic job of reproducing the starpower that Seven Samurai had, though I don't think there's an actor on M7 quite at the level of Toshiro Mifune(not even Steve McQueen).

If you're planning to watch Seven Samurai, congrats, you're in for a treat. However, be warned, it's an epic, which means it's very long.
