I like what you did with Koning, though a mention of Chance being somewhat shocked that he's using his legs rather than being wheelchair-bound would be nice. Reminds me of a Saturday Night Live skit in which they find the so-called "alternate ending" of It's A Wonderful Life, in which Old Man Potter, the banker, is discovered to not be a cripple at all and is beat up by the townsfolk as they begin singing "Auld Lang Syne"... It's kinda funny.
I'm sorry, TTT, I didn't notice that. I can edit my post if you want.
Just a small edit is necessary, to show Chance's shock or indignation at being deceived about Koning's supposedly needing a wheelchair.

I'm sorry, guys. I have been really spun around this week.
For those of you who don't know, I am an adopted child, and just this week I met my birth family for the first time. I will tell you more later if you wanna know, but for now I'll apologize and just say I've been pretty busy.

Thanks, guys. Was kinda sleep while writing it. It took a friggin' hour. Kinda saw a few problems with it. In my tiredness I wanted to do somethings one way and wrote them in another. But, oh well.
I got a couple more things to do, to tie up the few loose ends and give a little more info on certain characters I've introduced and so forth. I should do that sometime this weekend. Everyone else feel free to write how your characters are reacting to helping a genocidal meta-terrorist group.
Certain Doom!!!!!

You know, epilogues are only epilogues because we call them that. Otherwise, they'd just be normal story posts.

Just about every night this next week is gonna be bad for me. I've got opening night for the current show I'm doing approaching at the end of the week, which means rehearsals (tech, dress, etc.) every night this week. So, if you're gonna do a chat, just know that this week is no good - repeat, EN-OH good - for the Walrus.

Ah, yes. It's nice to see that we are back to the age of "one post wonders" where a single paragraph post can fix all that's wrong with the world.

A little late for that. These aren't some Republic serial villains. They've already done it. Hence the name change to Vanguard.

I can't agree more.
T5, I think it would be more in character with Jack and his organisation if the antivirus would be sold, and not given for free. Or, if the Taskforce has to be enrolled by the governments that want the antivirus. That would mean that only rich countries got that, and the world would stay hard and dirty like is now.
Obviously, that is not something that would be made publicy known in a CNN news, so the post is good as is.

Jack´s own personal agenda is not the same as the Taskforce. The Taskforce is similair to the Authority... And if a antidote is available to them you can bet they will use it. Jack will ofcourse use this antidote for other purposes...tweak it a little hehe...so don´t worry guys, nothing is "fixed". Read on, or continue the story...All will be revealed later.

No, you have simply eliminated a very dangerous and large threat to both this fictional world and our team. In one post you crushed all the tension that had been created in this story. As one of our fellow posters said to me in an IM, "Good thing T5 posted when he did, or we might have actually had a story with lasting impact."
There seems to be a pattern as of late of posters eliminating threats and/or villians that other posters have created in an attempt to further their own subplots. If we are really supposed to be working together as a writing team, we need to stop this. It has gotten to the point where stories are being self contained and have little to no effects on those stories that come after it. And many posters are too concerned with their own subplots to participate in the main story, unless they find a way to further their own subplots in that story. Less and less interest is going into moving the main story along.
I know that we all have many different influences and ideas. All of them can be fit into these stories and work. All we have to do is to have consideration for the rest of the group and the story itself instead of trying to fashion it to meet our own ends. TTT did a great job of this in the last issue. He finally found a writing style that worked for his character and was totally different from anything else that was being done in this group. He wrote great posts that allowed his character to evolve all while progressing the story forward. Those posts didn't bog the story down or fulfill his subplot agenda. It simply told a story that was interesting. Many of those posts were long (gobdamn they were long), but I wanted to read them. At the same time, I've found myself ignoring many of the smaller posts because I found them to be too self-serving and bogging down the main story. There needs to be a balance to the personally character growth/development and the main story.
With that being said I think I'm going to withdraw Dirk from the main story for a bit. There have been a couple of things I wanted to do with him that sit outside of the group; and now events have come up that make his departure actually work naturally rather than me just yanking him out. So, I'll be doing that. And, hopefully, in the meantime we can all try and get together to talk about what we as writers and friends could do to help improve this experience.

Now, we're doing even more damage to ourselves from the inside. We're losing people, Griss. I had just about figured out how to work with this team, and then Dirk up and left, and ever since the whole bit with Ed nobody seems to trust anyone anymore - least of all a relative newcomer like myself." He turned to Grissom. "You know what I'm talking about?"
The mercenary paused a moment. "Who's Rob?" he asked.
Phil thought a long moment. "I have no idea."
Grissom shrugged.
Heh.

Why "of late?"
This pattern is here from the beginning.
Since the destruction of the future, of the circus, of the fake reality of the Castle of Crossed Destiny, of the Psi Unit, always things have been wiped out without much concertation. When it happened to ideas and concepts from mine, I felt sad, but in the end it's just as life is, it happens always the unexpected. So, the "evil" MBL is not yet triumphant? Well, knowing that there are at last two whole issues before their story, there wouldn't have been any norms left by then!
As always, what we should keep in mind is that this is a round robin story, and no one is in control of what happens. Nobody asked TTT the permission of destroying the Psi Unit, and I think it is right, so I believe that T5 has the right for what he did. Maybe I don't like it, or I feel it was ill-timed, but still it was not different from the destruction of the circus. The MBL is still there, and it has time to creates other treats to humankind before finally Vanguard will look into that.

I know the Psi-Unit thing was majority rule(and, admitedly, we were tired of having TTT getting mad at us for not writing them). I can't speak for the circus incident. The Castle of Cross Destinies, as I remember, was not a well received "one post wonder" either. I don't care as much that T5 had an antedote discovered, it's that he does it so quickly and effortlessly. One paragraph should not be enough to wrap up a whole issue. I know that I'm not alone in my unhappiness with how he handled it. It makes a horrible bookend to the events that happened right before it by being very anti-climatic. Yes, this is a round robin where everyone gets to participate. This whole thing should be about us writing with respect for everyone's characters and writing. Would you like it if Grimm wrote that his character sliced Raptor in half with his axe? No? ![[izzat so?]](graemlins/zatso.gif) And that would be crossing boundaries. It's a total disrespecting of your character and of you the writer. I try more and more to avoid such things. I want to give everyone's ideas a chance. I expect the same in return.

This is always been a problem I've had. Sometimes I say something, other times I don't. But it still irks me. Heck, for all I know, I've been guilty of it as well. I'm not sure.
Firstly, large plot points resolved in one post/paragraph/sentence are NOT good storytelling, and I'm sure I'm not alone in that stance. My first MAJOR problem came with Euro's busting "Eddie" out of EPS HQ using alternate universe versions of himself, setting himself up as the world's most powerful meta, and making the EPS look like a bunch of rank amateurs... ALL IN ONE POST! I retaliated by having the EPS strike back. He retconned it all as a dream. I snapped. After much weeping/gnashing of teeth, we finally put our differences behind us and devised a solution, which, in the long run (and I KNOW Euro'll agree with me) created a great deal more development for both his character and the EPS than what he or I had originally planned would have. Due to that, we had Revolution which, I feel, is my shining moment on this or any other board. We had the "creation" of Euro as the Raptor. We had the first signs of descension in the ranks of the EPS. We were able to bring a team that had been intended for very little use into the spotlight for a few issues. AND IT WORKED!
The moral: teamwork creates better stories than short one-lined threads followed by bickering in the meantime. Solving problems simply is no fun. I had a two post solution to Grissom fighting the Twins, but was unable to get the second post written (I've been busy), so Grimm had to improvise for me. Which is fine. The point is, Griss beating invincible warriors in one post by - I dunno - tripping them or something just makes for bad storytelling.
Now, I'm not saying T5's approach was best. However, what's done is done. Now, I have an idea for bringing back the virus that Doc and Grimm set up. It'll take a bit of doing and won't be exactly the virus they'd imagined, but it'll work. I'm positive of that. Just know that I'm gonna do this. And that it will NOT be so easy to gloss over. I'm doing this in order to set in place a sense of urgency and a continuing backdrop in which to place our characters before.
What kind of stories would we have if Dirk or Shirley or Charley or whatever-the-heck-Danny's-girlfriend's-name-is got infected? Ones with emotional impact, my friends. These are the stories we should strive to write. I've toyed with the idea of dropping the boards altogether. I'm a busy guy with lots of things to do and, quite frankly, the stories haven't been as good. I was thinking of writing Grissom out, handing the EPS over to Gooz and taking my leave. But, if we can work together to create the kind of stories that we can actually be proud of (as proud as I was of Revolution) - stories where we work TOGETHER - well, I might have to stick around.
It's not been my intention to point fingers at anyone or make anyone seem inferior. If that was done, I apologize. I just want you guys to know that I enjoy writing with you and would like to continue to do so. In a lot of ways, the reason none of our characters work together well is because we as posters don't work together well. If we change that, we can change the boards. I guarantee it.
~ Chewy
