Actually, I have given small hints about why Dirk is in the group throughout his presence here. It's something that will be revealed later on. When? I'm not so sure. That depends upon another writer on this board.
As far as letting Dirk in, since I was new, I didn't feel that I had a grasp of the other characters enough to write how they would react. I left it up to them. Yes, you and Danny did finally address the issue; but not until after Grimm had said something about it a few times in chats. It took the new guys saying, "Hey, are you guys just friggin' nuts to let our characters burst in like this? You know nothing about them." for that to happen though.
