And TTT: Sorry if I don't get the way Pete talks right... for me, people who speak english either do it correctly or... not correctly. Maybe T5 and Euro have the same problem.

Well, I had to work eight hours of overtime today ( ![[Frown]](images/icons/frown.gif) ), which means I had next to NO time to post the next "chapter" of the Revolution, like I had wanted... Rar!Hopefully soon, though, at this rate... if I disappear, don't hold it against me... "Saint Peter, don't you call me, 'cuz I can't go: I owe my soul to the company store..."

One thing I hadn't realized before was that Tobias had lived on the streets for two years when he was about 12 or 13. That's interesting. Something in common with Pete. BTW, is Pete the oldest member of our little team? He's in his mid-to-late 30s, while everyone else seems fairly young, except perhaps Kristogar, who I see as being about 29/30-ish (correct me if I'm wrong). Sorry I haven't added anything myself, yet. I've noticed that Tobias hasn't been around here for quite some time; should we have Tobias go "on leave" for a while until the poster comes back? I know I used Bibbo's character for a few posts back during the genesis of Pete 'the Chimp' Glover (and I'll explain the nickname someday ![[Wink]](images/icons/wink.gif) ), but we've left Bibbo to take up the reins of his character whenever and if ever he decides to come back. Should we do the same for Tobias?

I think we should simply keep using the character (in character with no huge changes). If he returns he returns and can resume what he had in mind. I just don't think we should stop using a character unless they directly write the character out.
Because in reality the team would be about three or four members right now (plus I love the huge amount of characters to switch around with)

Newfie-speak is sort of like this:

quote: Supposedly posted by The Eurostar: On another subject, have you noticed that we call the heroes "Metahuman"?
Well, basically there are only three, Tobias, Lance and Shift. Kristogar is normal, Naecken is anything besides a meta, Mxy is transdimensional, Danny has been engineered and Pete drank a chemical potion.
Three to five.
Actually, Pete IS a metahuman. The chemical potion would have killed him had he been a "Normal." As it is, the chemical called Chance instead served as a catalyst to activate his latent metahuman gene. Perhaps a different catalyst may have had a different effect. Or perhaps Pete just happend to "luck out." Who knows?
Also, from what Mxy wrote, I thought Mick Harrison had a metagene which allowed him to communicate more easily with other dimensions, leading him to become "possessed" by the being Mister Mxy in the first place.
So the numbers are thus five to three...
Also, I thought Kristogar mentioned something about having the ability to fly during the flight to Mandelovia. Is this a metagene thing or is it electronics? [ 06-09-2002, 12:44 PM: Message edited by: TheTimeTrust ]

Hey, you're right! I completely forgot about that! The goverment didn't put Mick in a cell like they did with most metas because his metagene is completely useless.

Mxy: Thanks. ![[Smile]](images/icons/smile.gif) I'm trying to figure it all out as I go, so, try and be patient if I screw it up a few times. TO ALL: Note - Turkish is NOT a metahuman. Does this pose a problem of his employment? Also, if you have noticed, I'm writing his personality a bit differently than I did in THE ORDER Prelude. This is on purpose, as I feel that, while he knows who and what he is, the amnesia has him constantly baffled. Therefore, I'm trying to kind of write him with J'onn's (JLI era) sort of dry-but-not-missing sense of humor, while retaining a very "monk"-quality to his presence and demeanor. As I said before, if it helps, think of him in relation to Chow-Yun Fat in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, with a few Matrix-type moves on him. T5: Okay. The dog is a techno-entity. Cool. Sorry, but I'm just one of those that have never liked talking animals (sorry Euro/Giovachinno). Except for Fluffy in TOMB. And, that's basically because he wasn't really a dog at all. Sort of like T5. CHEWY: Why exactly don't you have a character in the team? EURO: Same question. TTT: Sweet!! Griffen, eh? The games afoot'....... ![[Big Grin]](images/icons/grin.gif) (But, by gob, you know Turkish will be able to detect him, right? I would just hate to repeat any previous weaknesses I've used for him.) ![[Smile]](images/icons/smile.gif)

quote: Originally posted by Prometheus: CHEWY: Why exactly don't you have a character in the team?
I had originally intended to make Walker the next "Chewy Walrus" (get it? Charles Walker... Chewy Walrus? Eh? Eh? Okay, maybe not...) and make him a member of the team, but, as I further developed the character, I knew that he wouldn't be the type to "play well with others," especially other metas. That's why I (with the help of Gooz) put him in a position of coercion over the group called the EPS. I'm thinking of adding a secondary character that I'm developing to join the "heroes", but, as it stands now, I'm not so sure...
quote: Pro, again... EURO: Same question.
Well, I'm not Euro, but he did have a character in the team at the beginning, but, as it turns out, he was "procured" by the EPS. Euro wrote the "Sonja" character for his wife for a short time, but is, at present, I believe, planning on adding a "new" character to the line-up... ![[Wink]](images/icons/wink.gif)

Well, this Griffin is not the same one from the old Messageverse of TOMB, so expect different things from him. Needless to say, though, he'll be very wary about going anywhere near this newcomer called Turkish Stringfellow until he's fully aware of what his abilities -- metahuman or no -- truly are. He plans in infiltrating the apartment building after the group has left, however, so I don't expect any confrontation with Stringfellow just yet. Griffin is a complete professional. And just who his employers are and what they want with MBL Consulting will be revealed in due time...

Uhhh.....after Turkish gets back from Uruguay......
You know, the more I think about Gooz's party, the more I want TS to be involved. What do you think Gooz? T5? Is Turkish needed in Uruguay, or, should he be developed a bit more back at the ranch?
Oh, I can tell you right now, Turkish is NOT going to wear a uniform..... ![[Smile]](images/icons/smile.gif)

A note on Danny... while the idea of him being buddies with Sam is a good one, and fairly accurate (I tend to think of Danny as being about 20, so I think they're close in age, at any rate)... Danny isn't really close to anyone. He feels isolated here, so while he trusts the team, and maybe gets along well with Sam in particular, he doesn't have anyone he'd consider a bestest-best friend.
And... uh... yeah. A lot happened in the last couple of days. I have catching up to do.

Good post, Dan. I like this development on the idea that the eighth floor is haunted. And, apparently, the fourteenth floor has its own residents as well, as evidenced by Stringfellow's seemingly one-sided conversation there... As for the main plot of the story: Well, I don't really have ANY ideas on it so far, so I'll leave it up to someone else to get the team going off to Uruguay (and I'll leave it up to T5 to continue his plot with the character T5 who's inhabiting the mechanical toy dog right now and talking to Pete). On the other hand, I'm bursting with ideas for the subplots, especially with the party Sam's planning at the apartment building while most of the team is gone. It should be an interesting struggle for Griffin to infiltrate the place when it's crawling with teenagers and other beings, as well as a surprise of my own based on a seemingly throwaway line from last story...... Also, while of course this time the team will be flying off in a chartered plane to Uruguay, I also mentioned that Quantos was trying to procure a military-class hovercraft for the team's use. Of course, he can't have purchased it yet, but when it's finally delivered to La Perdita, we'll need to give it a name. (I'm partial to The Raider, myself, but it would probably be best to give this new universe team a new name for its flying craft. Something like The Liberty or something, I dunno.) And it should probably be housed in a hangar near the beach rather than on the roof as I had Tobias suggest in a post last story, especially if Stringfellow's planning on taking up residence there. Somehow, I like most having thr heroes taking regular flight. After all, nobody here knows how to fly a plane, a 'copter or any other flying machine. Unless Sam has a past in the military (but he seems too young to have behind him) or Turkish is able to talk the plane into flying (and that would be utterly cool). The best to pilot would be, obviously, Bibbo, too sad he's gone. Or else, we could add a pilot as a secondary character, I have one in mind...
Pro, it's exactly how Chewy has said (he must be reading my mind). I will have a character in the team as per issue 8.

I think, since it's military-grade, the hovercraft will be "idiot-proof," and fliable by anyone. After all, if some dum soldier can pilot it, why couldn't any of the team learn to do so? [ 06-10-2002, 05:34 AM: Message edited by: TheTimeTrust ]

Yeah, on this I agree. We could have a "day in the life" story (usually the best stories), in which the aircraft arrives at the La Perdita, and Quantos himself teach them how to fly it. Could be fun...

The convo that TS had with the 14th floor relates to Sam's past and why no one is allowed into the 14th floor.
As for TS, he can talk to nature and objects as if they were human ![[Smile]](images/icons/smile.gif)

Go with your instinct Pro...having at home for awhile gives you the chance to develop him more, but having along to Uruguay is also a good idea so that you can learn how he will interact with the characters. I´m not making this easy for you, am I;)

I implied in a post that he looked around that age. My original plan was that he was actually around 200 years old or so, but looked remarkably young. I've kinda changed my mind, but I really haven't come up with anything else. So, yeah, he looks 29-30ish, but he could be anything.

Electronics enable Kristogar to fly. He doesn't do it very often, though. More like a survival thing than anything else.
One of these days I plan on going in depth about how 'normal' Kristogar is. Just remember that he likes being shrouded in mystery when it comes to his personal stuff.

T5: No, you aren't making this easy on me.... ![[Wink]](images/icons/wink.gif) I'll try to decided before the team leaves. BTW, I responded to you LEGION thread at the DCMBs. DAN: "....I come from a land down unda...." What? Where you afraid to talk to me on the IM? ![[Wink]](images/icons/wink.gif) Anyway, I understand about the "friendship" thing. I always write Danny (in whatever incarnation you have him) kind of the way I see you. Some of it's ficitonal character-driven personality. The rest, though, is pure Dan-O. And, as such, I've never known you to be very....warm? close? intimate?....with others. Therefore, it's not like I've had, nor will have, Danny and Sam in a "Very Special Episode of..."-type situation. They're just two guys on the same team that have the most in common (i.e. age, abilites, attitude, etc.), and that's why they hang out together. Same thing with Mick and Larry. I like the hovercraft idea. Go with that. Turkish would find it highly uncomfortable cramped in a chartered plane. Size and ability-wise, either way.

Well, I know that he starred in a Canadian-made movie called "Men With Brooms" with fellow Canuck Leslie Nielsen, which came just after the Winter Olympics. It was a farcical comedy about, uh... Curling, of all things. It was one of those poking-fun-at-itself kind of Canadian movies. I think Canadians in general tend to have a very self-deprecating humour, especially when it comes to things that are supposedly "essentially Canadian," like hockey and curling (both of which I either suck at or don't care for). I haven't seen it, myself.

[off-topic] I was thinking specifically about the American soldier who dropped one or two 500 pound laser-guided bombs at a group of Canadian soldiers busy in a well publicised live-fire training exercise near the southern town of Kandahar in Afghanistan last month, killing four and wounding another eight.
I mean, if a complete moron like that can operate an F-16, I'm sure our guys can operate a military-grade hovercraft... [/off-topic]
Sorry for getting off-topic. This isn't really what this forum is about, though... ![[Smile]](images/icons/smile.gif)
