Chewy, guess what? After talking to you last night(2 nights ago?), I changed my mind. read and see what I mean.

I hope no one minds, I changed the pace of the story a little bit.

The Battle in Thunder City is over in two more posts.

Prometheus, I hope you are still up for writing that post we talked about not too long ago! If so, your up!!!

And than I will be back with the last post finishing up the Dark Prometheus X's role in the story, and the battle over Thunder City.

Tomb members, feel free to write Tomb's battle with the Colony (that is if any Tomb members are remaining...?). Um...maybe just Nemo vs the Colony? Heh.

Ehy, everybody remember that with the end of this story the WAR doesn't end! This is only the first chapter of a three part story: there is much more...

I know I told you "2 sentences at the max", but there was no post to follow upon that set it up well enough. I had to do a bit of an intro.

The only thing that I would have added to your post was some sort of toughs about Chewy, and maybe about the "betrayal" of TOMB in the Siecle Draco fiasco.

Anyway, in the WAR story I have just quickly forwarded the rescue. Now the only three to bring back are Igor, Lil'Jo and Tobias. It would be a good time to wrap up those two subplot...

I'm sorry I haven't posted in a few days, but my mother passed away early Monday morning and this week's been total hell so far for my family.

I'm going to post an extremely short wrap up story for the war, but I may not be back for a few weeks.

Thanks to all of you for your concern. We're taking things one day at a time for now while we try to get everything at home settled. I'll still be posting when I get a chance. By the way, that was a great ending for the War story.

I have posted the second chapter of the war. This will be the storyline that reset the Multiverse. I have a few plot to bring to a conclusion, like the Joker1 going into Hell from a solo story of some months ago, Nemo retrieving Gaia and the fate of the Fog King, Continuity and other things.

It would be cool if every poster that what to kill his character, at the end of the post wites "Name Character:the end", just like Avatar, Tobias and Mxy have done.

Another thing: since this should be the last adventure of the MBL (for general consensus, and unless the New Universe will see the birth of a new MBL, thing that for now seems unlikely), I would try to do it like in the old days, where we put a great deal of work into action and dialogue, and less in characterization. For that, we have the new universe.

I especially would like to see TTT on this story. You said that you wanted to do a story with all your characters together. Why not here?

Eurostar, I plan on continuing the old Universe even after this big war. I don't in anyway think we should reset it.

The New Universe is all it's own, nothing to do with the old one. I see no problem with letting the world remain alive.

I had the same idea, if you read my post in the TOMB thread just before I started the New Universe topic I stated the same, then everybody else said that they wanted the universe to be restarted.

I have no problem with either take.

We could simply leave the Old Universe where it will be at the end of the War, whenever we'll want to play again with our old characters. But it seems that everybody is killing their heroes...

To end the histories of all the characters I've added since I started posting (except the late Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer and Pete McLebovich) I fusionated them into one character. But he's not like Hawkman (that had the councious of every Hawkman inside him), he only has one councious (the one of "Nobody Else"), so it's easier to handle him.
Now, I don't know how to use him if the history continues. I have absolutely no ideas about his future...
If someone thinks about something, or wants to use him, please sent me a private message or e-mail me.

Hmm . . . how to wrap things up.

I gotta work that out. Instead of going to bed at a reasonable hour, I caught up on the stories to date. Damn, I am impressed. Euro, don't ever tell me you have trouble grasping the english language again, ok buddy?

Can Gooz or someone explain what happened in the battle with the Dark Pro X? I don't know if a post or two were swallowed when the board was down or something, but I definitely feel like I missed something.

BTW, I will not be posting prodigiously this week, since I am doing tech for a show going up this weekend, but I will try to add a bit when I have time.

Bibbo, thanks fro your words:

About the wrapping up, it's a possibility, but your characters could also survive the end: Gooz is firmly intentioned to have the "old" universe surviving, and I also think that is not needed to wipe it out in the end. I plan to streamline it, bringing it back to basic, but not really destroying it.

Months ago, I sent you a plot about the crossover: That's still valid for what I have in store: I need characters for this story, don't kill yours for now...

I will post the real start of this story tomorrow morning.

About the "End of the MBL" story, nothing has been lost: Pro reserved the Dark X battle for himself, so Gooz only hinted at that. When Pro will come back, he could tell it as a flashback.

Cool, I guess I have to dig out the e-mail you sent me.

I think we can continue to have some stories set in the "old" universe, and use the "new" universe as a kind of Ultimate MBL story.

I agree. The old universe could be for stories in the old way, lot of actions and less characterization (hopefully less convoluted continuity), while the New Universe could be the perfect place for the "adult" storytelling we have developed in TOMB, in the last year.

Ah, by the way I have set the story, now it would be a perfect time to invite TTT and Joker1 to resume their roles...

I think that continuing both universes would be a very bad idea, and a horrendous move on our parts. I call attention to the fact that we don't have a large number of active posters, and that even those who are active are only sporadic at best. Except for Euro there doesn't seem to be anyone who consistently has something to write. If we keep both universes afloat then we will have the exact same problems that we tried to fix by destroying the first one. Stagnation. Quick and fatal.

For instance, we used to have too many teams for the number of posters; now we will have too many universes. People will have multiple characters and therefore not concentrate on any single one of them. I can't stress that point enough. Secondly, there will be two vastly disparate continuities to try and follow, which is a mental nightmare to anyone. (even you Euro ) Thirdly, it will be inevitable that someone will want to cross ideas over from one universe to the other; either by way of the hyperboards or some other device. When we start doing that we are basically shooting ourselves in the feet as we try to juggle something much too large for any of us to handle. Finally, I direct your attention to the reason many of us have given for drifting away from the boards: "I didn't check for a few days, and when I came back there was so much new stuff that I just couldn't catch up". That will happen with two universes running at the same time. A person who misses a few days will come back with double the posts to read. Also, previously the posts were all of a similar nature due to them being in the same universe with so many of the same posters playing characters on each team. Now, even though we have the same posters in each universe, the nature of each will be drastically different. People simply won't want to take the time to read everything that is new, and then they will leave. We can't afford that.

I know many of you want to keep both because of the long history. Sometimes we have to accept that the past is past. No matter how long we stay in the old universe it will never be "like the old days". The new universe holds a great possibility of exploration and ingenuity, while the old universe has been frankly worn out.

Avatar, you make a good point. I think that we could have some solo tales in the "old universe" while we concentrate on the new. Sadly, I think the various teams of the old may be past their prime.

I don't know really what to say. At the moment, my main interest is on the new Universe. I want to write the Old Universe War, justg because I have tough about it for so many months, that it would be a waste not putting it in words.

After it, I am not really interested in continuing it. I planned ONE YEAR AGO to have Nemo dying and replacing it with Eurostar, so what we are doing in the New Universe is wath really interest me.

But I can understand Gooz, he, like me, knows it since the beginning, we both are fond of all the past history. But I must admit that the last year has shown two things, one that the continuity is buggering the newbyes, being it so big that is impossible to handle. Second, that having to tell a story after another, too many times we came up with stupid stories that nearly nobody had the will to contribute to.

Having four team was definitely a bad idea, that's for sure. When we had two team was acceptable, especially when the people over them was mostly different person, I mean, only Rypta/Dan was on both team.
Time ago, I suggested that to avoid confusion, we should had kept the MBL and TOMB on separate universe. Nobody agreed, but I think it would have been a smart move, without too much cross continuity building up. Maybe we could see the old Universe and the New Universe as we have a MBL universe and a separate TOMB Universe.
After all, if a poster want to contribute only to a Universe, it would have been just like before, but without the need to know what was happening in the other teams stories.
I mean, Avatar has never been part of the MBL, but things that happened in MBL could have affected him in the TOMB stories.

That, now, could never happened.

Maybe every once in a while, maybe once a year or so, we could do some Old Universe stories, and just label it an "Elseworlds" tale or something.

BTW, are we ever going to wrap the Elseworlds story we started before the last board got shut down?

I know I for one will be glad to be rid of the old universe. As good as it was, it was just getting to big and unwieldy -- there was too much to keep up with. And I tried to keep up with both the MBL and TOMB at the same time, but I never had the time to figure out the JAMB, TIAMAT, and other teams. I just thought it was TOO much.

I'm also finding myself with less and less free time to do this kind of writing (with school, work, and personal life "getting in the way"), and I'd prefer to concentrate on exactly ONE thing at a time: this New Universe, and the possibilities that lie therein. I'd suggest that if we want to finish the War trilogy, that we either put the New Universe story on hold, or wait until that's finished and finish the War trilogy, and then go back and continue on with the New Universe stories and forget about the Old Universe. There's no way I'm going to put a lot of energy into keeping up with both stories at the same time... I've just got too many other things to do, and this is supposed to be fun and a diversion for me, not an obligation.

I'll reiterate something I mentioned in my last post, just because I thought about it after I clicked "Add Reply"...

I think it would be good to leave the Old Universe stories for a while, and concentrate solely on the New Universe story we've got going. Then, sometime down the road when we're feeling nostalgic for the Old Universe again, we can finish the whole War trilogy. I know that I wanted to write a story featuring Sir Justin leading a "Message Board League of Camelot" in his own realm, but right now it would feel like too much work, and I'd rather not bother with it, since it would take a lot of planning and reworking in order to fit this story at this point, and I'm not about to do that.

On the other hand, the New Universe story is fresh and simple to write. I've already got "written" in my mind what my first post introducing Chance is going to be like, and I'll be doing that shortly. It'll be fun to write, and won't require much of me... because as I mentioned in my last post, I really DON'T have much time left over. (School, work, personal life, etc.) And I think many other people are in the same boat.

TTT, your suggestion is interesting. I will glady wait to write the War story (I don't think it will be a trilogy, without I-Man part with the Immortals, only a two part story) if many poster would contribute to it after the end of the current New Universe story.

But I fear only me and Gooz are still interested in it...

See that's what I mean. To really do it justice, we need more people interested in doing it. Which is why I suggest we hold this one until Christmas holidays or something, when more of us have the time and energy to get back to it, and may have some fresh perspectives on things.

(I actually originally planned on writing the "MBL in Sir Justin's realm" story to coincide with the release of THE LORD OF THE RINGS movie, during the Christmas holidays, anyways.)

TTT, I suggested somewhere to write the current WAR story in the old ways of the first MBL stories at the DCMB.

No characterization, no long environment descriptions, no introspection... only action and short dialogue: It would be a homage to the beginning of the MBL, and it would make this story easy to do: just fun.

After this, I think we should keep the Old Universe for "specials", just like Tobias suggested, or maybe just shut it down, and put our ideas into the New Universe: after all, why the "MBL of Camelot" couldn't be set in the New Universe?
