I missed the first ten minutes b/c I was trying to set my damn VCR, so the first time I got to see Lex was when he awoke with a start on the beach. This whole part confused me.
The last scene of the season 2 finale had Lex going nose-first into the ocean...
...When I see him next, he's on a beach with a guy named Louis (Robert Louis Stevenson, anyone?). They talked like they knew each other for a long time (being stranded on an island for 3 months will bring people closer together, I guess).
Did I miss anything with Lex BEFORE the scene where he woke up? Did they say if Lex had known Louis BEFORE being stranded together, or what?
Actually, since Louis was actually (IMMEDIATE SPOILER WARNING!) a hallucination, it doesn't matter. But I wonder why Lex hallucinated him specifically (not like you get a choice when it comes to hallucinations).
I don't think this is necessarily the beginning of the "Evil Lex". I think any person in that situation would snap. Of course, we see that Lex is indeed capable of murder, even the bloody, messy kind, but, like he said, he "had" to do it. I think it just served to show us that Lex isn't afraid to take a life, but we've been shown that before (re: the episode where Dr. Helen's old boyfriend comes a-stalkin'). Yeah, maybe this is the first stepping stone to Lex's eventual evil-ness, but it's going to be a long road ahead.
Rutger Hauer as Morgan Edge? Kick ass!!!! Between him and Terence Stamp, the casting director is a genuis. I wonder who else will guest-star in the future?
The Kent's farm is always on the verge of being lost forever. They need to try something new when it comes to that. Of course, they've never been THIS close before, but still, it's been done, several times.
I'm definitely intriguied by this whole Helen/Lex/Lionel spying game. Are her intentions really evil? If so, she should become a major player in the series, seeing as she has knowledge of Clark's blood samples, AND she's been in Lex's "locked" room, where he keeps the damaged Porsche from the first episode and his own files on Clark. She has all the pertinent information, and she can hold it over Lionel's head. Maybe Lionel did hire her to spy on Lex originally, but she's turned the tables on BOTH of them to weasle herself into a position of power. Pretty freakin' smart woman. And evil, too.
I don't know what the "sacrifice" will be, either. But I think the "true destiny" was kinda revealed in the last couple episodes of season 3, where Jor-El gives Clark a message telling him his destiny is to rule mankind. We're still debating whether or not he translated the message wrong, or if this is maybe a hint of the Eradicator's presence in the Smallville mythos.
And yes... the scene with the super-powered Jonathan kicked ass. Supposedly next episode, he and Clark have a massive battle on top of LexCorp Tower. I wonder how THAT'll turn out. Jonathan finally has the chance to give his son a good ol' Southern ass-whoopin', to whip him back into shape.
Oh, and Chloe's quickly becoming my third favorite character, right beneath Lex, and then Clark. Jonathan's creeping up the status ladder, too.
Non
Oh, and Pig Iron: yes, this is the ONLY show I follow on a weekly basis, too. Fortunately one of my buddies gets me each and every episode on VCD a day or two after they're aired. Since they've pretty much done away with the Freak-of-the-Week formula, each episode continues the story. Missing one would be bad news! ;-)

The Kent Farm is [---] that close to being lost forever.
Lex & Louis . . . the start of the "Evil Lex"?
Lionel & Helen . . . she was spying on Lex for Lionel! Did she set up Lex? Hmmm, we'll just have to wait and see...
Chloe & Lionel . . . even though he greeves in his own way, he sure wants the dirt on Clark . . . and bad! Wow.
Kal . . . loved it! It's the comic book geek in me!
Jor-El & Jonathan . . . I want to know what the "sacrifice" will be and what the "true destiny" is as well. All the secrets are making me crazy!
Jonathan & Clark . . . loved seeing the look in Jonathan's eyes as he got up off the floor and then went after Clark. Butt whippin' time!!!
Man . . . I really hate the words "To Be Continued" on a season premier!
