I did like the Neil Young link. I always like being reminded there's an (ostensibly) bloody good Neil Young album I can't get hold of...

Yeah, it's my favorite Young album, and fortunately, I've got a good condition copy on vinyl. It's a shame he won't let them release it, though...and if the petition helps, then I'll be happy to have done my part!"

Yeah, I've heard that. Saw a video for it on late night telly a few years ago, it's hard to believe they put that out as a single, isn't it? ""whatever we release is going to stiff. Why not..."" "

Heh. It was Stately's reference originally, but I like that. Although, it must be said that the Masters of Reality stuff I've heard is pretty good (wish I could remember what that single was called: there was some old bag at the end of the video) and the Hawkwind album he drums on, Levitation, is excellent. Can't stand Blind Faith, though. No, I'm not wittering like this to push the thread past 100 posts. What cynical oaf could ever suspect such a thing?

I've just seen the news, and the Swedes are running an inquiry into three people who might have died from mixing red bull with booze. I like to think this is the case, and it's just the tip of the iceberg: not because I have anything against red bull, but because of the image of dozens (nay hundreds) of ravers and cyberfreaks dropping dead from badly mixed energy drink cocktails it conjures up. Of course, it's more likely allergies or some damn thing, rather than synergistic poisoning."

Way back at the dawn of time when I was on active duty in the US Navy we all had to take alcohol education and awareness classes. One of the things I learned is that good amount of the hangover people get from drinking too much American beer is actually a mild allegeric reaction to the yellow dye used. Yet another reason to stick to whiskey. "

Well, people, you broke the 100-post barrier on teabags. I hope you're proud of yourselves. Now other writers will point at me on the street and say ""He's meant to be doing this dark fantasy thing, right, and on the message board they just talk about teabags.""

I fainted with excitement at such praise. As for dyes in alcohol, I haven't heard that before but somehow it doesn't surprise me. I drink Guinness, so that's probably got plenty of dye in. I also drink vodka and gin, so I should be safe there - although they probably have all kinds of other chemicals to keep the liquid clear etc. How depressing... Back in the day, when I still drank, there was always a bottle of Skyy in my freezer. Of course, I mixed it with blue curacao and grapefruit juice, so I got all the dye I could handle and then some.

One of the really nice things about San Diego con area is that you can walk everywhere or grab rides in the bike rickshaws so moderation doesn't have to be part of one's vocabulary unless they so prefer. Silly moderates. <g> Is a Designated Demon the partner to or opposite of a Guardian Angel? "

For a good beer you gotta go Canadian. My personal favourites of the moment: Muskoka Cream Ale, Sleeman Steam Ale (finishes with zero aftertaste - the black arts are involved somehow I'm sure), and the new Steam Whistle. Any recommendations?
Of course even a good Canadian beer must bow down in the presence of Guiness. You don't dare take on Guiness in a fair fight. "
