My baby daughter is arriving on Monday at midday.

Hoo-boy.

This is nerve racking stuff! I hopped into a lift yesterday and forgot to press the button to my floor. Bit preoccupied. Ended up fortunately on the 19th, as I was headed for 18th. Congratulated a friend on his baby's arrival, and forgot that I'd seen him since then already. Brain has dropped about 30 IQ points since we found out date and time from our gyno on Wednesday. Not quite zombied, but not quite all there, either.

We have got all the kit and a nursery full of pink things. Bought a bouncer thing today. Looking at air purifiers as the air here gets pretty horrible sometimes.

My wife is a Swede and a accountant, and so normally she is the epitomy of self-assurance and non-excitability. She is getting jittery, understandable but unusual, which I think has passed along to me.

Mike, please ensure that Sandalphon is otherwise distracted for the next few days... If I see anyone with glowing hands in the middle of the night they'll get a smack in the teeth.

I'll be back tomorrow and will stop in sometime next week and report on how it all went, but otherwise will be out of action for a few weeks on paternity leave. My tpb of A Dalliance with the Damned will arrive from Amazon in the interim, so if all goes well I'll be reading it in between changing nappies. Wish us luck."
